Oh, some sure.

Very few Americans however go around stating how they're better than Italians or the Japanese or whoever.

The only really odd thing that Americans seem to frequently do is say they live in the greatest country on earth. That's not a statement about themselves, but about the place in which they live.

It's also very odd and grating. Lewis Black even commented on it.
And it's not the greatest country on earth so they should stop saying it.

Oh I quite agree, but that's a statement regarding governmental structure and economic structure, not about the individuals so much. One could also say it might refer to the collective as "great", but it's not a statement of "I'm better than you, you little shit."

Hate crimes? Really? Like I give a damn about those?
He cut the military budget, so why does it matter if he puts some of that money back to veterans?
Oh great, he put funding towards keeping trees growing.

Because generally humans are empathetic creatures past the age of 2 or 3. I say generally, because we still have sociopaths.

Verdum wrote:He cut the military budget, so why does it matter if he puts some of that money back to veterans?

There's no connection. He cut the military budget, which is a brilliant move, and took care of veterans, which is also another brilliant move.

Verdum wrote:Oh great, he put funding towards keeping trees growing.

Which is rather important, what with climate change and all.

Whoops, forgot about this. Sorry.

It should be obvious by now I have little empathy, and I expect none in return, and I may be a sociopath. I will go take a test for you and give you the results.

He cut the military budget enough to make it hard for most soldiers to make ends meet, and I hope his intention was to thin our numbers a bit because we sure had some people quit.

I thought the climate change was just us coming out of an Ice Age that began 2.6 million years ago?

No, it really wasn't good. We're finally wrapping up the War in Afghanistan (though I have mixed feelings about that) and thus the need for such a large Army is no longer present. And hopefully then, if we have a smaller military we might be forced to only fight one war at a time, which would be wonderful. Trust me, there is nothing worse than to be part of a forgotten war, because someone decided that Iraq needed invading.

I'm good with the UK, it's kinda shitty in some areas and it's not the best country but there are plenty worse places I could have been born and the country seems to be improving.

But don't say you'd want to be born in Europe for the governments, governments are the same everywhere.
