There is a difference between theocrats and fascists.

If you use fascism as a derogatory term for anyone with authoritarian and religiously motivated right-wing views, then the term "fascist" ceases to lose all meaning and value in political discussions.

Which one is the most socially progressive? I'm generally a single-issue voter because until people like me stop being legally oppressed, I can't be bothered to care about much other issues.

What are "people like you"? And you're never going to find a Party that only focuses on one issue. I only know that much about Sinn Fein, so I probably won't be able to answer your question, but some of the others here might.

I'm not sure.

All of the parties are either Socialist or Euroskeptic.

Maybe I should form my own but I'm American.

People wanting same-sex marriage legalized everywhere.

Parties that are socially progressive often have leftist policies like supporting the welfare state, so it usually works out nicely for me.

Edit: Disregard, read other post below.

Well, there is no real one issue party, they all focus on a ton of issues, primarily the social and political issues between nationalist and unionist communities and trying to maintain a peaceful settlement, i guess the alliance party would be a solid neutral option, as they are not biased in favour of any one group and are made up of people from all over NI. Also what do you mean by people like you?

Well then Sinn Fein and SDLP would probably be the best bet then, Sinn Fein has openly called for the introduction of same sex marriage and is generally focused on equal rights for other groups as well, and i think the SDLP is leaning in favour of it as well but they have not said anything officially about it. The unionist parties from what i can remember are largely opposed to it.

You misunderstood. I don't focus on single-issue parties. I generally gravitate to the socially progressive ones that have the best chance of winning, because besides being socially progressive, those ones usually have a bundle of other policies I like.

What do you mean? As far as I know, the median is the line that divides the upper half of a sample population from the lower half of a sample population. And while the average IQ in the world is supposed to be 100, it's not perfectly divided with 50% of the population being above that and 50% of the population being below that.

It would be pretty close though, and certainly wouldn't be a "vast majority" on one side or the other.

I would vote for the Green Party if I lived there.

I'm quite surprised by the amount of people who support the Irish nationalists. I'd go for the DUP myself.
British, Bisexual, Protestant

Pro: civil rights for all, Scottish unionism, electoral reform, mixed economics, NATO, Commonwealth, foreign aid, nuclear weapons
Neutral: Irish unionism, European Union
Anti: fascism, communism, neoliberalism, populism
Disclaimer: Many of my past forum posts (particularly the oldest ones) are not representative of my current views, I'm way more progressive than I was back then lol.

Why would it be pretty close? If you look at Sub-Saharan Africa, the average IQ ranges anywhere from 60-85 depending on the country you look at, and it's not much higher in India. In South America, the average is below the magical 100 mark also, with averages ranging from about 80 (Ecuador, Guatemala) to 97 (Argentina). That, and the idea of 100 as an average wasn't even meant to apply to the world; it was meant to apply to industrialised western countries with a mainly European population.

Anyway, this is about Northern Ireland and not about Guatemala.

Well they were originally Marxist hard liners for the most part during the troubles but they became more moderate over the years, especially in the gap between Assemblies in 2003-2007 where they gobbled up most of the SDLP's support in the North focusing mainly on local issues. So socialist would not really fit them anymore.

There already is legalized abortion, and I'm not sure they would get rid of it. From the looks of it, they hold the position of a Party that can't agree amongst its members on the issue.
