Depending on the region. I am sure that the system of how the USA runs will allow for the state governments of these areas to make their respective states quite liberal and hippy and what not. If anything, a nice boost of voters for the American left may be a good thing, no? So wipe up the vomit and take an Advil.

We're essentially a republic already. We'd just need to cut ties with the Queen, get rid of the Governor General and make the Prime Minister officially the head of state and you're good. We don't need to copy the American government, (aside from maybe that whole "separation of church and state" thing, funding catholic schools here has always been a pet peeve of mine) we've got a perfectly functional government, thanks.

Yep. The west is basically our version of the American south, complete with oil, conservatives and giant flat areas filled with wheat. The only thing missing is the secessionism, but that's just because Quebec stole that before they could get it. :p

You don't understand my point.

To me it sounds like somebody from a country like Switzerland or Sweden saying how somewhere on the southern part of South America is awesome. Except that said southern part of South America doesn't get to be the world leaders for many historical reasons that have nothing to do with social success, and people and politicians that often have a boosting ego about it. Not to say about the frequent occurrence of bizarre and backward things (not that we lack it).

How about he just blend the whole thing together, instead of Canada just adopting everything 'Murican. The states can provide the secularism, the lack of a Queen and the ridiculous amounts of worldwide influence, and we can provide the free healthcare, saner gun laws and a less malignant tumour-esque military budget.

You have the right to get shot by a tactical response team if you try to overthrow the government.

Does that count?

Yeah, some people must, but it's not as big a deal as it is in Quebec though.

In all fairness, you kind of brought it on by drastically altering the world map as it is today. Not that there is anything wrong with that, rather it's a point that sparks debate.

:( Can we at least have a country that includes Alta and Baja California? Put in Arizona and Sonora for good measure, along with Chihuahua and New Mexico?

As long as everyone gets a say and it's not just "USA annexes everyone trololol", I'm fine with it. The United States of America would finally be accurate as a name, of course, instead of being a close runner up to the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and the "Holy Roman Empire" in terms of intentional use of wrong terms in a country's name, but we've got to call it something else, obviously. In short, what would we call the country?

How is United States of America not a correct term. Is it not the Union of several American states?
