Mabuhay?

Sounds heretical. But continue~

Schadenfreude can become a fetish...

At this point, Pantalleria's drivel sounds like he is willing to sellout Philippine sovreignity to the USA in a heartbeat. Not to mention a naive view on international affairs/realpolitik.

Although still arguably better than being a sellout to Sugar Daddy China.

If change smells like death, then yes, it's coming. In fact, it probably is already here.

Firstly.... WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK?
'Sellout Philippine sovereignty to the USA in a heartbeat.' What kind of statement is that?
Did you even READ Point 3? If you didn't then let me explain to you in a language you can better understand:

DUTERTE WAS ELECTED BY ABOUT 18 MILLION UNEDUCATED PEOPLE.
PHILIPPINES HAS 100 MILLION PEOPLE.
DUTERTE NOT REALLY COMPLETELY REPRESENTATIVE OF EVEN QUARTER OF TOTAL POPULATION.
DUTERTE HAS BIG LOUD MOUTH.
COUNTRIES NOT LIKE DUTERTE MOUTH.
RICH PEOPLE WHO MAKE THE MONEY COMING INTO THE COUNTRY NOT LIKE DUTERTE MOUTH.
ECONOMY DYING BECAUSE OF DUTERTE.
DUTERTE IS TRAITOR FOR NOT PROTECTING PHILIPPINE RIGHTS IN WEST PHILIPPINE SEA.
PUT TAPE ON DUTERTE MOUTH.
EVERYBODY HAPPY.

P.S.: I made it bold and in all caps to make sure you read it properly this time.

Only 18 million voted because most of the population are still lower than 18 years old! Common sense: Developing countries has more babies than adults.

No offense or anything, but about 60% of the total population or 60 MILLION PEOPLE are at and above the voting age.
Now, I shouldn't have to tell you this, but clearly 18 out of 60 is WAY BELOW 50%.

Safety via anarchy? Sending the murder rate through the roof to kill some low level drug addicts (along with innocent people) will not make you safer. And it is ruining the economy.

What I'm seeing right now is a populist new world order. (TBH, I'm fine with that.)

While Rodrigo Duterte seems to be selling our country's allegiance to China, it is most likely not so: He is probably under the radar of the rise of populists, only his seems to be a nationalistic flavour.

Look, I am all about no to drugs. But the Swiss system of treating it like a health problem simply work better than killing random people and on the street. Plus, well involves less mass murder.

If he's playing the 'nationalist' card, his statements of being closer to Beijing is exceedingly hypocritical.

Likely it's because we're coddling too close to the USA, and he believes that at this rate, we may never have peace.

The Americans are our natural allies, heck we've been the most pro-American people IN THE WORLD in accordance to Pew Research for the past 5 years running, keep in mind their research includes actual American citizens.

I googled Phil-US relationships and Obama said we ARE the most Pro-American country ever.

I'm proud of that.

Uhh... Being pro-American doesn't mean we're blind to their crimes, heck my blood boils whenever I read about the 'Kill and Burn' Policy that American generals implemented in the 1900s.
It just means that we respect their advancement and want to implment all the GOOD things that they've got, like a strong military, or free trade between allies, etc.

Whether or not Digong will actually live up to his words foreign policy wise, remains to be seen. He over estimates the power of the presidency.

Well they legalized some ONLY with strictly monitored prescriptions. But it works, because you can only get a prescription as a last resort, after you tried all other rehab, and then it keeps you from having to commit crimes to get it or buying it from a criminal dealer. The number of people able to get prescriptions for heroin is VERY small.

But the important thing is it works. Drug crime has plummeted there, and their crime rate is very low.

Again, it is having doctors work to address it as public health problem.

But anger for drugs is the very engine that pushed this regime in power. If it were to abandon it, Duterte's administration will fall like a house of cards. The same goes with Iran whose revolution and current regime was founded on the basis of anti Americanism. Regimes founded upon hate or scapegoating are often very hard to persuade from deviating from the very actions and styles that brought them to power. It is another reason why China refuses to abandon the communist symbols despite it being purely capitalist, it doesn't want to be viewed as traitors to the revolution.

The US has done some bad things. But it has done a lot very well also. It is not perfect, but has had many successes. And has done many great things.

Every country has some black marks on its record, and you cannot blame the present people for the crimes of the past. Look at what the U.K. and Germany did, but today they are sucesful modern countries. We should not forget the crimes of the past, but not hold the current people who did not commit them guilty for the crimes from long before they were born.

Well true. He has painted himself into a corner. His policy is failing, even he admitted it did not achieve the results he claimed, but he cannot abandon it and lose face. So the body count will just continue to rise. Without the drug problem being properly addressed.

Again it is a medical issue for doctors, not blind populism to solve.

It is another reason why China refuses to abandon the communist symbols despite it being purely capitalist, it doesn't want to be viewed as traitors to the revolution.

aka. populism is trash and fragile, neXT!

We need to fill our ranks with vigilant educated guardians who will be there to safeguard the people from the lies of populism with truth, philosopy and reason. This is one of the things that is preventing and will prevent populists like Trump to trump over America. Unfortunately in our nation, we fight the irrationalities of Duterte with another sensational irrationality, rather than ridicule the man and his friends with the clarity of their hypocrisy, the elite ridicule it with blatant lies. Hence the failure of the opposition will be imminent. The old elite has to be replaced immediately, the ranks of the media have to be replaced with the best and the brightest amongst the youth because only they have the better vision for the nation unlike the old elite who only fought Duterte because they represented a danger to the pockets of the oligarchy in which they serve. Only then could an effective engine of reason could thrive in the nation to combat the corruptions of democracy such as populism and irrational mob rule.
