The only way he can do that is if he has at-least the support of 60-70% of the population, however given that around the same percentage is only a little smarter than Americans then we are doomed...

Here’s something you might not have known. Americans are not idiots, only some of them are.

Or else, they would be facing EDSA 5.

Guys.

We all want change.

More money. Better government officials. A better life.

It's only a matter of how.

Asigna says we should go totalitarian, with a wise man at the top and no incompetents below him.

Panta says we carry on with whatever we are doing right now.

I say we go socialist, with smart and honest people in government.

Seriously, people here would love a welfare state. Free education, free healthcare, free housing. It'll be great.

And experience what the East Europeans had to suffer through for nearly 50 years, I think not. :eyebrow:

This from the man whose country's economy got screwed over by it's own Government, you know there are a lot of American Spaniards, most of the stereotypical idiots are in the South, you know closer to Spanish speaking states.

Coming from the man whose Government can’t into economics you should know that we are still one of the most stable economies. And why is it our problem that those states are ignorant? Except for texas they were either French or British.

Stop with these Philippines vs Spain flame wars. We're talking about the Philippines and only that. These discussion threads were not made for comparing nations.

Actually, it depends on what part of socialism you want to implement into society. Politically, socialism has had a rough history with most of the nations using it as a political system either not doing well or downright collapsing. There are only 4 true Marxist-Leninist socialist states left in the world from nearly 30 in the 1980s and these are China, Cuba, Laos and Vietnam. It has more success economically but really it depends on how far you're going to make your economy socialist. Usually, nations implement socialist policies in its welfare programs. Good examples would be Canada, Norway, Denmark and Sweden but all of these nations still have a free-market economy so it isn't really 100% socialist.

So you would stoop down to his level? There is nothing wrong with showing a bit of patriotism but bashing the other guy isn't the way to do it. It just leads to more useless arguments that clutter up the thread and destroy the open and mature atmosphere of the thread. Again, this is a 'Discussion' thread not a 'flaming' thread. So not unless you're willing to back up your opinions with facts and state them in a neutral and educated manner, I suggest you take your opinions elsewhere. This goes for that other guy as well.

Texas was Mexican, ergo Spanish. Also Spain a STABLE ECONOMY? Don't make me laugh, our economic progress is so great that we have been named the next "Asian Miracle" from the sick man of Asia in just 3-4 years, not bad if you ask me considering that we still have the Spanish flu of corruption.

I believe in free education, that's as far when it comes to Socialism I'll go otherwise Government funds should be diverted to the funding of the military, police and a few food subsidies afterwards research and technology.

The Spanis economy had stopped dipping and started to climb back up again, but I digress We’re here to discuss this 7% growth and not bash Spain.

Very well, we as a state are growing despite the nonsense going on in our region and will only increase as the Global economy starts to recover.

I recently saw in a survey by pew that the Philippines was one of the most pro gay countries on the planet, and I was pleasantly surprised. Because I was a little surprised, I'd like to ask anyone who has lived in the Philippines, is the nation seemingly tolerant towards LGBT people?

I grew up there, and yes it is. The Catholic Church will occasionally get fired up about abortion or contraception, but no one touches the LGBT issue.

Some of local contemporary pop culture's icons (Vice Ganda, most famously) isn't afraid to flaunt it on national television, and the masses love him for it.

I must say, I'm a little surprised. I always figured that the influence of the church in Philippines made the country a bit socially conservative.

We are a very socially conservative people but I won't consider it as a reason for our being anti- nor pro-LGBT. I'd say it was more of ignorance, we don't really want to tackle the issue just yet especially with all the debates and scandals still coming out of it. Anyway, we have bigger problems to solve and I guess the RH bill has taken much of the spotlight on sexuality issues.
