No. I can assure you, there's no way the Kremlin would allow for me to be stuck in a Sochi bathroom. That's only for westerners. After all, how else would I be able to defend Russia and share my insightful commentary with you lovely people?

Does the competition pay better? Tell me, how many shekels would I get if I were to shill for the US instead?

Probably a lot more actually.

You'd be surprised. Even more surprising is that through their projection, certain people here can't differentiate between what is irony and what isn't. Or maybe that is not so surprising. Do I really have to use one of those cancerous smileys?

It would be better if we both just gave it a rest. This place is too robotic, even for me.

If that is the case, I'd be worried for the state of the US bobsled team. Don't think it is safe for people who can't hear well to complete in the regular olympics.

It was literally on the previous page.

Now they're embarrassing themselves in front of the entire world.

Says who? I don't know if you are watching the games, but they have been great so far. I'm more interested in the competition than the tacky non-issues we are discussing right now.

Nothing can be as GOAT as Beijing and Sydney, but Sochi is up there.
The Land Fomerly Known as Ligerplace wrote:Or a goddamn properly made door.

Eh, those doors are fairly common across Europe as internal doors. They generally do the job and are cheap.

1) Right. As I said, I had seen one picture of the water that was a fake. That was it. This, however, has been confirmed by numerous sources, as has the warning to not apply it to one's face.

2) If you're more interested in the games than in discussing these non-issues, then you'll be happy to hear that the moderators kindly granted my request to have separate threads for the political controversies and the actual competition. You don't need to waste your time here when this discussion is waiting for you.

3) I suspect this one was a bit more towards the cheap end, and quite a bit less towards the do the job end.

Perhaps. But a reverse image search only has it reposted on random US radio stations and forums.

For the sake of it, let's assume it is true. As problematic as it is, this is hardly the standard of water quality in Sochi. The air quality in Beijing was atrocious yet most people consider it as one of the best olympics to date. In time, these stories will be forgotten and placed in the 'stuff you may have missed section' and Sochi will be remembered for being the outstanding games that it was.

The second one is just some silly "waiter waiter, there's a fly in my soup story". You can find that stuff anywhere. Hardly a serious problem.

I'm aware and I've already posted, and thanks to you for doing so. The problem is that it moves too slow, unfortunately.

3) I suspect this one was a bit more towards the cheap end, and quite a bit less towards the do the job end.

I agree with you completely on this.

No, I get the irony. The whole edgy fake anti-semitism thing - really, it was hilarious three years ago. Did you just discover /pol/ today and rushed here to share their epic memes or have you been saving it for the right moment?

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but most of /pol/ is rather serious about their anti-semitism. But I guess mighty Cosmopoles knows best, and shame on me for being such a razor sharp /pol/ack spewing le epick jew memes. If only I could be as clever and as aware of internet trends as you.

It speaks volumes of you that you actually found it hilarious in the first place. I bet you still wet your pants at trollface and remove kebab copypasta. Save this for another day before you get us both in trouble. You really are enjoying this too much.

Tedious sarcasm and passive-aggressive remarks aside, it's clear people are showing Sochi at its best, and at its worst. In conclusion, it must be alright. I don't think it's acceptable that people should be trying to make Sochi like hell on earth, but I also understand their complaints. You can still throw your shit at me if you want. I understand it's hard for you to chew.

Oh Christ, I didn't really care about the previous discussion. This question had nothing to do with it. As a Russophile, I was genuinely interested and that's why I asked such a simple question. Is it too much to ask?

Christ, this forum is depressing. I feel like I'm in Norilsk.

The claim was that it happened. Not that it happened a lot.

My personal experience is not relevant as it was 700 miles away and ended 22 years ago. However, that happened a lot.

An ice rink or a nice frozen pond is indeed a really fun date location. Great call on that one!

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but if you start a date with an amazing ice dance just between the two of you, and end it with champagne in a hot tub, then you have a chance to score in more ways than one :P

Ergo, they can hold Winter Skiing events from January, until March. If there was only a month in between that, during which the Olympics can be held... oh wait, there is!

Depends on the area. It didn't happen where I lived, and that was the Nizhny Novogorod Oblast, at least not as far as I was aware, until Gorbafool's and YetlSIN's reforms kicked in. Sib lived in Moldova, which was the poorest European part of the USSR, so he probably had a much shittier experience than I did, which probably explain his "oh noes, USSR like totally sucks" posts. This too was way before the whole anti-LGBT Law passed.

Want some real western-media bullshit? How about NBC scaremongering about "Sochi hacking stories"? Even in America there are some people who really question the truthfulness of this claim. Shocking, I know. They all are either Kremlin paid stooges or just not patriotic enough.
