I find it funny how some events start before the Olympic Ceremony.

A good chunk of Olympic money comes from TV revenue. Opening ceremony is usually on Friday, and yet Thursday is the most watched night, so they decided to move a few qualifiers and preliminaries before the opening ceremony starts. London did the same thing with football and archery. So did Beijing, but just with football, not archery.

Thursday is most watched? Hmm... Makes sense.

I would not boycott them as Snowden is not a criminal, just a whistleblower which actually falls under legal protection and the United States has engaged in acts of terrorism against him and their own people and therefore they should be banned from the Olympics if they keep up that douchebag attitude.

My favourite event would be Ice Hockey and I hope to see a U.S. vs. Canada match for the gold again with the U.S. coming out on top!

Government vs country. You can hate the government, and love the country. That's why I think that Olympics should be about sports, not politics. BTW, I'm not agreeing with his statement and I don't think that any athletes should be banned from the Olympics, unless the athletes are major criminals.

Super Bowl, while placing the Opening Ceremony on TiVo, since it's not a sport. Now if it was Super Bowl vs Hockey/Basketball/Association Football Finals, then definitely the Finals.
