Not the topic of this thread, guys...

I was on topic. Fact of the matter is, there are some real problems with Sochi. I pointed one of them out.

But OMG. He said bad things about Russia. Must discredit.

I love how Russia is one of the only issues NSG is truly divided on.

I don't have a real view, I'm still formulating one.

Seriously? NSG doesn't manage a consensus on anything.

The issue is that you SPECIFICALLY TARGETED me, not just my post, in a thread where you only have two other posts and we haven't engaged, RIGHT AFTER I provided a counterexample to your point about how Capitalism is all fuzzy-wuzzy in India, in a completely different thread, while claiming that I'm out to discredit you, or that I always support every single Putin policy, when that clearly hasn't been the case. And you didn't just point out the problems. You specifically targeted me: that would interfere with your unquestionable, unconditional defense of Russia and Putin, whether they deserve it or not

That's a personal attack. It's not an attack on my post. It's an attack on me. And a bullshit attack at that, since I don't think that Putin deserves defense for the anti-LGBT Law, pro-EG Law, etc.

That's just your opinion. But there are plenty of times that I didn't defend Putin. For instance, my Intervention Policy has been that of Intelligent Intervention. I followed that to the letter, irrespective of who was in office. I defended Bush on Afghanistan, and attacked Putin on Libya. My defense of the Olympics or Caucasian Stability is nothing new. I've been consistent in my posts.

No, it's a flat out attack: that would interfere with your unquestionable, unconditional defense of Russia and Putin

My defense is both, questionable and conditional. I might stay silent about a policy I don't like, but I won't defend it.

NSG's been divided on just about anything and everything. I don't know why Gallup's pretending that it's just Russia and a few other things.

I remembered there were some mumbles about the weather in Sochi not being cold enough, so I decided to take a look at other venues, the ones such as America's Snowbasin, Italy's Sestriere, and Vancouver's Whistler, there's not quite that much difference. To quote CNN:

“In February, temperatures range between 3 C (37 F) and 10 C (50 F) on average, but as we are seeing they can climb even higher.
These numbers mean that it edges out the previous warmest location. Vancouver, Canada, host of the Games in 2010, averages highs of about 8 C (46 F) and lows around 1 C (34 F).”

http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/11/world/eur ... explained/

While CNN goes on and on about how hot Sochi is, blah, blah, blah, when CNN mentions the actual facts, it turns out that the average difference is just 2 degrees Celsius, which is actually less than the average between Whistler of Canada, and Hakuba Happone of Japan. Of course the elephant in the room, (when it comes to weather,) at Sochi is not "hurr durr ubah-ebul Russia", as idiot journos and their copy-pasters foolishly allege; it's Global Warming. Should the organizers have taken this into account? Probably. But you have to actually mention Global Warming, if you're talking about how warm Sochi gets. You know, the elephant in the room. Yoohoo! Kind of important.

I did what journalists and their copy-pasters should've done, and looked up the weather in Sestriere, (that's where the 2006 Winter Olympics took place,) and Snowbasin, (where the 2002 Olympics took place). Guess what? It's warm. For today/tomorrow, Sestriere's top was/is 8, Snowbasin's 12, and Sochi's 15. Therefore, we can either get serious about Global Warming, and point out how it's hurting the Winter Olympics, like intelligent people are doing, http://unfoundationblog.org/sochis-role ... -movement/, and yes, kids, Global Warming is a real problem, http://environment.nationalgeographic.c ... l-warming/, or we can all act like idiots use Sochi to go "hurr durr dat Russia sure is silly!" and forget about the real problem - Global Warming, which hasn't been mentioned once in this thread, but Sochi's weather certainly has!

There are two options: stick with the current herd of weather in Sochi bashers, and limit Winter Olympics to places like Lillehammer, or the Siberian Tundra, where you might even spot Bear Cavalry. The other option is to start paying attention to the real problem of Global Warming, and figure out how to address it. Any idiot can bash large countries, but addressing long term problems is what's important!

Edit, just to clarify: if you post something out of an article, and analyze it, actually analyze it, that's fine. If you're just copy-pasting random sources without any of your own analysis, and that's your entire post, and you're doing this several times in a row... what's there to say about you? How does that not make you a copy-paster?

Guess what?

Looks like the 2026 Olympics will be in Alert, Canada.
