The NFL needs serious reforms.

I think this shows serious promise, it's already working for Seattle and I think it's likely the future of the sport:

http://espn.go.com/blog/seattle-seahawk ... ks-defense

On the day after the Seattle Seahawks returned home from the Super Bowl last year, assistant head coach/defense Rocky Seto got back on a plane and headed to California.

He had made a commitment to the California Interscholastic Federation to talk to high school coaches about a topic he's become an expert on: tackling.

Seto coached 11 seasons at USC before joining Pete Carroll's staff in Seattle in 2010. He has been at the forefront of the team's mission to promote a new way of tackling, a rugby-type style the coaches believe is more fundamentally sound and safer than traditional methods.

"Rocky has been most integral," Carroll said. "He has been really the bell cow for us on this one. He is the one that does all of the teaching [of] it in the meetings. He’s got a real passion for making the point, and he’s always been involved with it with us."

The Seahawks have produced videos the past two years that demonstrate the leverage-based shoulder tackling methods, the idea being to take the head out of the equation.

In 2012, a guest coach from England visited the team's practice facility. Seto began to show him the fundamentals of how the Seahawks teach tackling: track the near hip; target the thigh; hit with the leveraged shoulder. The coach told Seto it looked like a rugby tackle, adding an element to the way the Seahawks teach it.

"I believe that’s how the game was originally played when the guys were wearing leather helmets or the helmets without the face masks," Seto said. "You didn’t want to put your nose right into someone’s chest or knee. You’re going to get hurt. So that’s just what the rugby guys do, as well. They try to get contact with the shoulders. So that’s the biggest principle."

The CTE prevention reforms will change the game so drastically, it may lose it's great appeal for the violence loving populace. What a quandary!

Weed is an easy fix. It'd be interesting if it made CTE brain injuries less devastating, wouldn't it?

We can't find CTE in living people. To those people, football is like gladiator fights, with the possibility of death paralysis and chronic brain disorders.

Ravens are presently holding a press conference announcing the addition of speedster WR Mike Wallace, who has signed a 2 year deal for $11.5 mil. The offense just gained the ability to take the top off the defense, which is something they definitely lacked last season.

Sweet.

Will he mesh with the offense well? He didn't with Miami and Minnesota. But if he doesn't pan out, then at least it's only two years.

You really do think like a Lions fan. Total Debbie Downer. So, right... if he doesn't break a leg or retire when he's 30.

Mike Wallace needs a QB that can throw a good long ball like he had in the Burg with Ben. His last two teams QBs didn't do that ball so well. Flacco has a bazooka for an arm, so he can do the long ball. That's good for stretching the field, allowing Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken, those three really good TEs and a couple of RBs to find room to roam. It's a great signing and i like it along with the Eric Weddle deal.

Meanwhile, do you think the Lions will ever mesh with executing a game plan with any consistently? :p

Gone are the days where Stafford ALWAYS bombs it deep to Calvin Johnson. But unless the Lions have a coach and escape from this anarchy, then no.

Now you see why the deep threat the Ravens have gained is so important. Plus last year's number one, speedy WR Breshad Perriman, never played a game last season due to a knee injury. He's well and also in the mix for 2016. :)

Bye Chandler Jones.
Hi Jonathan Cooper.

An an unrelated note: here's to the Cleveland Browns, the only team to spend less in free agency than we did.

I understand why they traded (contract year, want more guarantees than Olivier Vernon), but I hate that my team did the trade. :(

I get you. You feel like I did when Anquan Boldin got sent to the Cards Niners in 2013. I understood it, but it was brutal emotionally.

This is why when Flacco asks to eat the bank, tell him NO.

Suh ate the bank. For Miami and they have bloated contracts like Suh's! Anquan Boldin was sent to the Niners, not Cards.

Neither Brady nor Gronk eat the bank. The Hoodie still sells off players in the name of the "salary cap" that we are no where close to reaching. Oh yeah and refuses to spend money to pick anyone up. I mean Jesus BB if your going to save all that money you might as well use it for something.

Those two don't eat the bank, that is true. Brady restructures regularly, even when he does get a large paycheck.

BB needs to stop being a Scrooge and get some DLs. It's all fine and dandy until your D looks like ours.

If we had a good DL im pretty sure our defense would be unstopabble. We already have some very talented DBs. Please dear Hoodie get TB12 a defense!

Closet Pats fans unite!

No one eats the BANK other than then owners. These contracts all get renegotiated or the player gets cut, regardless. The salary cap is like some kind of super elaborate shell game.

Now for a word from the newly relocated Las Vegas _________.

Eh. Makes sense. I blame the economy.

Looks like the chiefs picked up a wide receiver from Oakland, Rod Streater. I don't know much about him, but the raiders thought highly of him, it seems. Interesting to see how he does.

I'm also looking forward to having Jamaal Charles back next season! Hopefully he returns to form and stays that way since he shouldn't have carry the offense by himself!
