If I didn't believe in evolution, I'd probably want my kids to not believe in it too. In many states they only teach creationism. People who like evolution wouldn't want their kids to become creationists.

If parents want to fill their kid's heads with bullshit then tough shit because we're not going to let them sabotage the next generation.

I want kids to be learning biology in biology class.

Science is not about "belief" like religion. Science is about facts.

Well, then if they taught creationism, then you wouldn't like it. That's my point right there. Why fund something you don't agree with?

Public schools are actually not strictly allowed to teach creationism, iirc. A Supreme Court case ruled on that. Give me a second to see if I can find it.

The parents can do that in their own time. Ultimately, the teachers are in a position of authority and trust. Ignoring the fact that ignorance often causes suffering; teachers should be well informed and not abuse their responsibility.

Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. We would be concerned with their materiality. We would be interested in their beginnings and their ends, before and after they left our grasp.

Because that something is unarguably correct.

We don't pay taxes to teach children religion in the public schools. We don't want to be funding it. We want to be funding the instruction of peer-reviewed science.

That's not your choice, it's the government of the state. And if anything, I'd predict there will probably be more creationists in the next generation because of the curriculum.

Not all states teach creationism. My state doesn't and I'm not supporting it, but I care about the children in states like Texas who are taught creationism and religion.

Lets just debunk this shit right now. While criticisms of evolution are taught in many public schools, Creationism is not strictly taught.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creation ... ted_States

In the United States, the states of Texas, Minnesota, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Missouri, South Carolina, and Alabama require in their science standards "students critically analyze key aspects of evolutionary theory."[1] Two other states, Louisiana and Mississippi, have adopted legislation allowing teachers and students to discuss scientific evidence critical of evolution.[1]

Don't doubt it. People are getting more and more militant about religion and are starting to accept more and more bullshit like this.

Becoming more militant is not the same as growing in number, in fact it seems more like they're getting more militant BECAUSE they're reducing in number.
