I do not in fact worship modern medicine; a lot of it is crap and the whole lot is much too costly.

American health care might be expensive, but other countries have better systems that deliver modern medicine at lower cost. Also, modern medicine has done far more good than harm. http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science_of_longevity/2013/09/life_expectancy_history_public_health_and_medical_advances_that_lead_to.html

A third is a lot lower than I'd expect it to be. Nonetheless, I'm glad 2001: A Space Odyssey has had such a profound impact on 24% of people.

Answer to first one is: No, it is crap. Adopting something akin to NHS would be cheaper and better.
As for second, 2.1% chance of serious adverse drug reaction is not too bad compared to about hundred percent death.

This is depressing coming from a country that went to than moon and leads the world in scientific research and development. And even sadder that some of these idiots have the power to stop scientific research. Same crap is happening in Canada with our majority Conservative government, they hate science.

Canada isn't as bad. Yes, the Harper regime sucks, but it's nowhere near as bad as in America.

The US government hasn't done much for global warming either. Americans are also among the least likely to link global warming to human causes. http://www.gallup.com/poll/147242/worldwide-blame-climate-change-falls-humans.aspx

The Sanity Test
From 'A Study Of Our Decline' by P Atkinson (3/3/13)

Sanity is the ability to recognize right from wrong independently of private feelings. As the insane have no way of judging right from wrong except by their feelings, a simple test of sanity is the question:

How do you recognise right from wrong independently of your feelings?

Unless the truthful answer is a traditional moral code (a religion), then insanity is demonstrated.

I think it may safely be discarded as a legitimate source.

It's also completely batshit insane. It lists things like improperly feeding your baby, Argues with itself about how being immoral causes superstition (But you have to follow an ancient superstition to be moral.)

How? Creationism is just people not listening to facts-the only obvious 'danger' is brain damage from the facepalms generated by everyone else having to listen to the rubbish. Global warming, meanwhile, if nothing is done about it, will (and is) have much more obvious effects on humanity.

It's in large part due to the massive fights in the 70's and 80's with the "monkey's no cousin of me" songs, and anti-evolution campaigns.
It's widely accepted by young to middle age americans that evolution is true.
Dus Ex Machina or "god did it" doesn't fly as a reason with anyone born after 1985.

Creationism has an ideology attached to it as well, though, that can lead to things like global warming denialism. It's a fairly common belief among more hardline creationists, for instance, that God created the world for humans to use, and that environmentalism and the like is in direct violation of God's commandment to 'be fruitful and multiply'.

Are you suggesting all of the 100 million or so are people born before 1985?

Nearly all creationists are in the Global Warming Denialism camp.

Reducing Creationism reduces the main source of global warming deniers.
