Or Air Defence Force/Air self defence force. Kinda drawing on Japan's formal name for it.

"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

The SDF is so named because it's not a true military- Japan's constitution prohibits any formal armed forces, and the SDF is technically part of the police.

OP, how about splitting your air force into two forces, Army Aviation and Navy Aviation?

Army Air Corps, Air Army, Aerial Forces, or if you're really going for Polish, Siły Szumazne or something like that.

Well, nowadays the Polish AF is called Siły Powietrzne (Air Forces), and until 2004 it was the Wojska Lotnicze i Obrony Powietrznej (Air and Air-Defence Forces).

If you want to look for similar names from other countries:
the French AF is called Armée de l'Air (Army of the Air, or Air Army)
the Italian AF is called Aeronautica Militare (Military Aeronautics)
the German AF is called Luftwaffe (Air Weapon or Air Arm)
the Imperial German AF was called Luftstreitkräfte (Airfight Forces)
the Russian AF is called Военно-воздушные cилы (Military Air Forces)

Airheads, as the Army Cadets I was a part of used to call them. Alternatively, Balloon Force.
