While I'm happy for the people in Utah who can now get married and hope that same-sex marriage is eventually legal in all states, the way it was done worries me. This was not done by a democratic vote of the state legislature or the people. It was imposed from above by a federal court on one of the most conservative states in the country. It would be extremely naive to think there would not be some kind of backlash at some point.

This may not be so much "progress" as some have suggested as society swinging back and forth on particular issues. The Civil War/Reconstruction period was pretty tolerant, but it was soon followed by the Victorian era. The 1920's were also a tolerant era, and though the next couple of decades were not exactly normal with the depths of the depression in the 1930's and the war in the 1940's, the next period with relative peace and prosperity was the 1950's, when a propaganda video like like this would be thinkable. When I hear of courts imposing this kind of thing on states or businesses being forced to serve gay people, it makes me wonder how bad it will be when things swing the other way.
