Texas EduBoard won't put creationism in textbooks, after all

Good, although if it's in Texas, you might still be fucked. Texas' education system is flawed fundamentally by the 'Standardized Testing' issues of the No child left behind act. Really, it only puts pressure on schools to teach what is considered sufficient to pass the TAKS test as opposed to actually teaching critical thinking, reasoning and logic to students. What worse, if a school performs poorly on the tests, they lose state funds. I went to a high school that thanks to this type of policy, was still using textbooks from the 80's in the 21st century.

And yes it can go somewhere. Several years ago, I was a creationist. Then I saw the vast amounts of evidence for evolution and I realized that I'd been convincing myself of a falsehood all along. So yes, opinions can change, and we hope to change yours, but that can't happen if you refuse to debate.

The only circumstance in which a debate doesn't go anywhere is if one or both sides behave like brick walls. And whether such a circumstance can truly be called a "debate" is very questionable, really.
