Islam is amazingly oppressive then. Why obey a God that is so eager for blood for something humans and their primate ancestors did freely, liberally and without harming anybody else until the invention of children and consequentially women as property because of the invention of estate?

Islam isn't oppressive. It's actually rather peaceful compared to other religions. In Islam you are to treat others with respect, even if they disrespect you. You are not supposed to talk badly about other religions, as it is a sin. You are not supposed to talk behind the backs of others, as there is a specific level in hell for those who do this. You are to treat your neighbors with kindness, no matter how nasty they are. All this is so that, instead of using violence to suppress opposition(which is only done by the extremist, who are not even proper Muslim's and 99.99% of the time are killing Muslims themselves), peace and kindness attracts people to Islam. There are limits though. Rules that have to be enforced to keep the integrity. A married couple who remained chaste until marriage is going to be a lot more faithful and respectful than one who, before getting married, were often (anything more than 0 is __ too often) engaged in premarital sex.
