Mechs are bad and everyone who suggests them should feel bad.

IIRC, they produce a lot of US-designed equipment domestically.
Note that their two battle tank designs, the Type 90 and the newer, lighter Type 10, are both domestically designed and produced, as are their Howa Type 89 rifles, and before that, the Type 69.

I kind of figured they made their own rifles. Good to know about the tanks though.

In addition to tanks they produce different missiles (air to air, air to ship and so on), they build submarines and other ships, IFVs, APCs and SAM systems. Also they produce military planes though fighters are being made together with USA.
Mitsubishi produces most of the stuff listed here. So I would say that Japan has one of the strongest military industries in the world.

That's pushing it a bit.

No, it's objectionable and opinionated.
How would you measure "one of the strongest" military industries? By weapon export? Nope, they aren't in the top 20. By profit? Still no. The "strongest" would go to the US, China, Russia, UK, Israel, France, and Germany.

What? Japan doesn't produce weapons to export and make profits. They produce weapons for themselves. What I meant by one of the strongest is, what type of weapons can they build and how advanced these weapons are.

Type of weapons, nothing exceptionally revolutionary. Advanced, actually it's about average.

They think they are Asia. That's the huge problem. Yes, you are right, without Japan, who else would take have the guts to take Japan's place to have a military to challenge China's expansionist and aggressive foreign policies, India? no, they have Pakistan in their right hand they don't want China in their left hand. south Korea has the North above its head whilst the Philippines is pathetic politically, ASEAN are a bunch of pansies and rarely talk about China together. Japan-it's perfect.

As for the enslaved women thing, they did that not only to China and South Korea, and the Japanese expressed regrets to it by issuing apologies. But I would also argue that what the Nazis did and what the Japanese did are different. The Nazis want to eliminate another race, while the Japanese want to exploit countries they invaded to support the mainland. How is that different from other countries that colonized South Asia? Although with the hate Japanese have against Koreans and Chinese at that time, we don't know if they'll go down the same path as Nazi Germany had they not been stopped.
Yep on the first part, the SK used it to build industries, infrastructure, the stuff that built up our economy.
Actually, the Japanese Prime Minister denies many of the war crimes. Don't get it wrong, some Japanese leaders have apologized, but a large portion doesn't feel very bad, or others like in this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanking_Massacre_denial
the Chinese might have exaggerated a lot but the Japanese did the same as well for the numbers.

How many times must Japan apologize?
Abe doesn't help matters at all, but the Koreas and China have been poster children for goal-post moving.
