Actually, Prime Minister Abe of Japan still denies the comfort women, and many other support him on that.
Its not like all the Japanese deny it like I said, but ITS THE !@#$ing PRIME MINISTER DENYING IT, ITS WORSE THAN JUST SOME RANDOM HISTORIAN OR POLITICAN!

Sadly, the Japanese people will keep reelecting him as long as his economic polices, Abenomics, keeps on working. Although I support his stance on repealing Article 9, or revising it.

Abenomics? What's that?
Seriously, how effective are his economic policies?

That would be for the best.

I agree. China have been forcing its claims in South China Sea recently. Vietnam and Philippines are now coordinating with Japan and US to modernize their military. From what I've been hearing in the news, we might see more American boots on Philippine soil (thank goodness). The only people who are against this in the Philippines are the communists and leftist militants.

Basically he's trying to end Japanese economic stagnation via monetary policies. Right now they are working, but it's too early to say. I don't want to derail this thread so maybe we should talk more about it through TG ;)

There is also the problem of how China is perhaps five to ten years away from making its military into a viable threat if their reforms continue at the current pace.

By the time that happens, they're going to put the relations between most of their neighbors to a point where its difficult to fix it again. The Filipinos are already mad with China, and if the things will go the way they are right now, other people of Southeast Asian countries will get mad at China too.

The JSDF is very strong. Japan is one of the world's top spenders when it comes to military expenditures, and is pretty techy.

Well, if we also tried to negotiate with them a little more, even as we continued a military buildup, that might help as well, and then instead of a threat, we might have a pretty powerful friend, or at least a country who didn't actively dislike the US like it does now. Personally, I think Obama's "pivot" is going to be pretty hard to pull off with all our involvement in the Middle East, and that the US should focus more on building a strong relationship with China than at containing it.

Soon they shall have mechs!
The only possible thing I have to say that is bad about them is possibly their inexperience, I mean the last major war these guys went into was ww2.

When has the CPC claimed that China is communist?

As for the DPRK, that's called state capitalism, which is a form of capitalism.

State capitalism has a blurred line with socialism, hence why it's sometimes used to deride capitalist-leaning socialist economies.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_capitalism

State capitalism is usually described as an economic system in which commercial (i.e. for-profit) economic activity is undertaken by the state, with management and organization of the means of production in a capitalist manner, including the system of wage labor and centralized management. This designation applies to economies regardless of the political aims of the state, even if the state is nominally socialist.

North Korea is not only state capitalist, but it has long since removed all mentions of communism from its constitution and distanced itself from Marxism-Leninism entirely.

They call it Juche.
Were it not for the public machine-gunning of supposed dissidents and the atrocious standard of living, it might have sounded like a nice system.

Defensive long range bombings against hard targets in a first strike attack against any potential invader.

Because a good offense is a good defense.

Mitsubishi built the ship, with the Aegis system bought from Lockheed.
