All destined for actions on Senkaku, I reckon. This entire plan, along with their new marines, are seemingly largely geared for amphibous assaults. Now which part of Japan is a little island in the middle of nowhere that may need to be assaulted?

They won't do anything unless China tries to exert their force on Senkaku first.

You can trust us, as we are a peaceful nation.

You were imperialist in the 19th century. You're a fairly peaceful nation now, as Japan is as well.

That was 70 years ago. It is obvious that Japan has given up their imperialist ways.

Nor can they even invade.

China was and is a commerce hub. Never really did much colonizing. They do get beaten up often by foreign powers.

And no, don't invade China, bad idea.

I'm with Japan and the U.S China's getting a bit to cooky and needs to step back alittle. Before they do something stupid, yes china has the largest army or whatever but come on, the U.S, Japan, South Korea, most likly Taiwan and most of Europe (doubt Russia would do anything) and also have to include the Philippians. Some of the nations I listen might not get involved but if they and most likly will china has no chance.

Purr.

Not much in the way of offensive warfare though, as it should be as stated in the constitution. cx JMSDF as it is has a little over a hundred vessels, already counting non-combat ones. Only helicopter carriers, as opposed to aircraft carriers. No nuclear arsenal or infrastructure/supply&command chain to wage war overseas either, so any claims that "we're not to be trusted after WWII" or of "imperialist/nationalist" are bollocks and have no weight behind them, since most countries are way more armed than we are.

Why do you support childish and nationalistic values?

Asia needs cooperation. China is not a threat. They know better than not to piss of the American allies in Asia (Korea, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, etc) and know what entails if war were to erupt in that region.

Sure they have a bigass army, but do you think it is logistically possible for China to defend every border it has from foreign invasion? Do you seriously believe that they have the logistical capabilities to invade another country? China is a commerce hub. Agitation of neighbors is fundamentally bad for business. Japan has a justified reaction, but it's not helping their cause in the long run.

And leave the bloody western powers out of East Asia. They have no right to interfere in their affairs.

Even though they outspent china in Military spending China could still easily defeat japan. For two reasons
1. China has nuclear weapons
2. the size of the Chinese army is enormous and could probably just win through numbers alone.

Then again anything could happen.

If the objective is to take Japan without damage. (aka no nukes) Then I don't think they could do it. How could they get that many men into Japan?

China could easily invade South Korea , Japan not so much unless it develops its navy and air force, cuz you know Japan is an archipelago.
