US and EU has made some reforms since last crisis. China is depending mostly on export and they have pretty much planned economy. China will take bigger hit but US and EU can live trough it.

Even though they outspent china in Military spending China could still easily defeat japan. For two reasons
1. China has nuclear weapons
2. the size of the Chinese army is enormous and could probably just win through numbers alone.

Then again anything could happen.

Nuclear weaponry is somewhat the trump card, but if the fighting occurs outside the home nations it may not be used.
For instance, if the battle were over Taiwan I expect we wouldn't see nuclear weapory launched.

Both nations would simply try to force the others out, then lock down the island.

China won't want to risk wider war with nuclear attack on Japan, and China also wont want to nuke taiwan.

Just like America would not be able to fight China well on Chinese soil, similar limitations may befall the Chinese in Japan. Though a rapid strike and push would also force the American heavier assets out of the region.

But damn that is a lot of amphibious vehicles.
