Oh and in case you were wondering by WHO standards, my sex is male and my gender is masculine.

Again, I am not sure that is true, after all, every thought and feeling, any sense of self is created in the brain, which is a biological construct. Since that is the case, gender is biological.

But that identification is created within the brain. The constructs exist, but how one identifies is entirely created within the brain since the brain is a biological construct, how is it not biological.

Yes, but is that what "basic biology" is about? Or is "basic biology" about sex?

There was an argument about unisex bathrooms. An idiot said they caused rape and blah blah, which sparked some outrage. BTW the thread is more about the difference between gender and sex, and informing people about that difference. Plus why can't a thread evolve with the conversation. But whatever. The argument probably would go no where. But more importantly, don't be chauvinistic pig. the end.

I was specifically responding to your biology is about sex not about gender. As I said, I am not sure that is the case. a person whose body does not match the sex they were born with is biologically of one sex and biologically (due to the identification coming from the brain) of a specific gender.

Then that backfires on people making the "biology" argument.

Yes it does. I am more wondering why we allow such wording as biologically male. A person who identifies as a man, even if his body is that of a woman is still biologically a man.

Isn't it more of a psychological construct then a social one?

The problem is that wording affects culture and laws. By allowing such wording we are in some ways denigrating being trans.

But constructs are immune to mind-affecting abilities!

...

I'll show myself out.

On a more serious note, it's kinda both, just in slightly different contexts.

It's both, because a person's brain structure will determine which gender they identify as.

That reminds me of how in Canada transgender women are legally men unless they get SRS. Until then, all legal documents like their driver's license will say "male" unless they have gotten SRS. That is thanks to the people in this thread making the "gender = sex" arguments.

Gender and sex are different. Hence, your entire argument/shpeel/whateverelseyouwanttocall it fell on it's self.

Gender identity is the psychological part and gender roles are the kawaii part.

From UD;

"1. Kawaii
An adjective in Japanese meaning " pretty; cute; lovely; charming; dear; darling; pet" It's stem is two kanji meaning "can love". It is commonly used by anime and manga fans.
Chibiusa-chan's new outfit is so kawaii!"

I'm male, so far as anything is concerned, there may have been some identity issues, or feelings of being somewhat intergender, but such pursuits would be quite pointless.
