I wonder if anybody realizes that medicine is mostly mental. You can give someone a sugar pill, convince them it's what they need, and it'll most likely work

Give a sugar pill to someone with HIV and tell them it'll halt the spread of HIV. Come back to me when they've developed full blown AIDS. Placebos are not a perfect remedy. They are unreliable and unpredictable. The placebo effect does not always occur. Hence why we develop actual medicine instead of giving everyone sugar pills.

Give a sugar pill to someone with hypoglycemia, though...
