How fast have you driven?

Postby Lackadaisical2 » Thu Dec 03, 2009 12:04 am

Simple question I suppose. But I'm curious as usual... Just so its not only a list of numbers, what was your reason for going so fast? What were the conditions like?

Fastest I've gone is 110 mph, I'm a bit lazy to properly do the math, but thats about 180 kmph, I think. I was on the interstate, its straight and long, little traffic at the time. I did it for the fun, exhilarating to do. I can't wait to go down the interstate again. :)

Maybe 95 in a car. I've driven an 18-wheeler 115, though.

~90 mph (actual speed was 150 km/h)

Was a highway with 120 km/h limit, was in hurry, never again.

I got up to 125 in a toyota camry, racing a VW GTI, got my ass kicked he topped at over 140 and accelerated faster than me, it was on a 45mph road.

90-95 in a car, but as a passenger, 120 mph.

I voted 150-- however it was more like 135-140.

I was returning from a gaming convention in San Antonio back to Smyrna TN. It was late and i was tired and had to stay awake so in the trusty pick-up truck with trailer attached(carrying our companies games) I put the peddle down and watched the needle bury at 120 and started measuring speed by how fast the odometer clicked off--it was great. I was getting a mile gone at just over 20-25 seconds.

Never had the pleasure of doing it on a straight away in a proper sports car. I can say once I hit speed keeping my eyes open was not a problem at all.

EDIT for those who are curious we manufactured the Magic Touch and GLobal Touch counter-top and upright touch screen games aswell as an assortment of video poker machines and slots.

Just a measly 115 here, on Highway 8 as you get off I-76 in Akron, Ohio. But I did it in a Mazda Miata (which I later flipped at 90 mph) and I dont know if any of you have gone that fast in a Miata but it felt like driving a big go-kart through a hurricane.

They'll go faster with a load down hill.

The fastest I have driven a personal vehicle on flat running ground is my old 79 Cadillac Deville down 8 mile road in Detroit(on the Detroit side not the warren side) that was 90mph.

Melk? You know you're an idiot for doing that, right? Those cars look like a strong sneeze would send them tumbling.

I'll take this opportunity to deploy the "I was 18" defense.

Interesting side note, the day of my accident I was supposed to be interviewed by some or other minor Australian news outlet about NS and various attributes thereof. Unfortunately, my phone was in the center console and I landed upside down.

Anything over the posted speed limit is reckless endangerment.

185.

I should have been arrested for it, but the cop I blew past simply didn't have a car that could keep up. To this day, I still don't know why I was never stopped or arrested. I do know that same cop gives me dirty looks every time I pass him.

LMAO. What'd [violet] and Max say when they heard you fucked up a press op? :p

Gods, you're lucky you're not 5 different kinds of dead.

I and other friends have had nasty accidents, so now I get panic attacks when I drive in unfamiliar places, or traffic's bad. So now I'm quite the safe driver (usually).

I did a LOT of stupid shit about that age, too, mostly as a passenger though. There's a road near my house in Austin that is nick named suicide road, because it has some seriously sharp turns. Screw up the turn and you go plunging off into a creek or forests or horses. Naturally, my friends would go 80ish on turns that you'd have trouble going 40 on. After I stopped hanging out with that crowd, apparently, one of them borrowed the other's car (with the owner in it), drove down, clipped the edge of the road, flipped, skidded...via the car roof...and slammed to a stop. They crawled out and were laughing.

I think you answered your own question :lol2:

If a cop sees someone go ripping past in a car they know they can't catch, oftentimes they'll let it go unless they have some other reason to chase it. If they put their minds to it, the cops could probably catch pretty much any car on the road but sometimes that can be a pretty involved process. They're probably not going to organize a multi-county effort to stop someone for speeding and reckless endangerment.

See, that's when you know it's a bad idea to ever hang around them again, should the urge for some reason arise.
