Help us by standing up against the bigotry, and educating people. Those are the two biggest things I can think of.

Exactly they are, boo fucking hoo.

Between late age 7 and early age 13 (the last three months I did it were the ones I knew the existence of such a thing as bisexuality, so I started to realize how inappropriate and degrading for my newly-discovered class it would be) I observed other boys in the restroom.

To compare it openly (I did it in secrecy for fears of bullying or whatnot) where I live is something mildly socially acceptable (even though worthy of ridicule for many) even for straight guys. Not more inappropriate than mere flirting. They can deny it as they well much want. Open, anonymous, mild homoeroticism is something natural and happens in a fuckton of other human societies.

And guess what? No one is dead or becoming spawns of Satan.

Yes, its okay to fuck somebody's life over, as long as there are few of them.
In sixteenth-century Europe, the disease of virgins, or green sickness, was seen as a common disorder affecting young unmarried girls. Its symptoms included weakness, dietary disturbance, lack of menstruation and most significantly, a change in skin colour. Understanding of the condition turned puberty and virginity into medical problems, and proposed to cure them by bloodletting, diet, exercise, and marriage. - The Disease of Virgins, a book I saw a promo for while trying to learn how babies are made.

Reality says otherwise
One American study of transgender adults found that approximately 50% of respondents were survivors of violence or abuse,(28) and another found that 25% of transgender respondents had experienced hate-motivated physical/sexual assault or attempted assault. 29 In a recent survey of transgender people and loved ones in BC (n=179), 26% reported needing anti-violence services at some point in their life. In examining reports of hate crimes against transgender people, researchers found that 98% of all “transgender” violence was perpetrated specifically against people in the male to-female spectrum; (30) of the 38 murders of transgender people reported internationally in 2003, 70% were women of colour. (31)

http://transhealth.vch.ca/resources/lib ... vocacy.pdf
Transgender facts Although social acceptance for transgender people is growing, parents continue to abandon youth with gender-identity issues when their children need them most, advocates say. 49 per cent of transgender people attempt suicide. Transgender youth account for 18 per cent of homeless people in cities such as Chicago, but researchers estimate fewer than 1 in 1,000 people is transgender. 1 in 12 transgender people in America is murdered. Transgender youth whose parents pressure them to conform to their anatomical gender report higher levels of depression, illegal drug use, suicide attempts and unsafe sex than peers who receive little or no pressure from parents. Less than 1 to 1.5 per cent of individuals experience persistent regret after sex-reassignment surgery. Our biology is the way it is. It may be a genital and a mind combining, an average genital and an ambiguous mind, genitals that do not fit with the minds of their bodies, and ambiguous genitals.

What is problematized here is the specific social codes we assign over these things because they arbitrarily became taboos and serious business, that became a mark used to oppress and discriminate against people making their lives and conditions worthy shit in their opinions what gives a hell lot of problems to them, just because we don't want to change our attitudes because we were socialized in a way that we believe to be untouchable by circular logic such as appeal to nature (but we were all created by it in the first place) or appeal to tradition (but a tradition that causes inherent social and individual harm to the point of actual physical violence, suicides and murders can't be worthy it).

I think he's trying to say that an internal struggle is nothing compared to suffering from famine in central Africa.

I fail to see how a trans person being murdered because of their identity (some statistics say a trans person is murdered every three days) is an "internal struggle". :eyebrow:

I'm talking about the bathroom issue, and that issue alone.

I see a lot of people going bonkers to show how some people are using circular logic in saying that restrooms are separated by sex. Are you seriously that blind to see that to keep saying sex=/=gender is just as much circular? I'm not posting an opinion on the matter. I don't care. But at least call your arguments what they are, and that is that both are circular.

Again, I don't think males using the men's room, and females using the women's room as a social norm is an injustice or oppressive.

Enforcement of it, though, is.

Well, I don't think so.

edit: though enforcement really isn't that much of an issue. If people are fine with people of the opposite sex using their restrooms there won't be a fuss. If they aren't alright with it, there will likely be a fuss.

You're scared that a transgendered man will beat up your female friends?

Are you fucking kidding me?

No, but how do I know they are transgender, and what if they are transgender lesbian? These are ridiculous examples, and not really what I'm concerned about.

I'm concerned about public decency.

And as always, the trans hit squad has arrived and call everyone who doesn't froth at the mouth for trans people bigots or stupid and what not, getting quite tired of this.

I've said my 2 cents. Take it or leave it.

Ah, yes, when you're being called out on your shit, automatically assume a conspiracy against you by your opponents. :roll: That's TOTALLY intellectually honest, right there.

Ever consider that maybe this thread is fairly fucking active, and its at the top of page 1 of NSG right now, so more people are seeing this thread, instead of "omg they're calling in their friends"?

Read this, please. Before I win the debate.

See?

If they are arbitrary, why are we the sex we are?

Because meiosis selected the chromosomal set, and random processes possibly involving a Goddidit ensured that one particular sperm survived the vagina to fertilize the egg. Also, your mother did not have birth control at the time.
The roles are arbitrarily assigned to the sexes, therefore homemaker is arbitrarily attributed to women in the WASP-induced culture when men could do it equally well. Also, your sex doesn't necessarily determine your gender, as the existence of transgender people like Grenartia and Threzlidun should prove to you. Also,, your gender's pretty much static once it's formed.
The United Colonies of Earth exists:
to bring about the settlement of all planets not yet inhabited by a sapient species within this Galaxy and Universe by the Human Race, or all members of the species Homo sapiens;
to ensure the observation and protection of the rights of all human beings;
to defend humankind from invasion, catastrophe, fraud and violence;
to represent the interests of humankind to the other governments of the Galaxy;
to facilitate the perpetuation of the unity of human civilization and infrastructure between otherwise self-governing colonies;
and to promote technological advancement and scientific discovery for the perpetuation and expansion of the unity and empowerment of all human beings.
