I've never seen an off duty cop still wearing a uniform when going to a bar to chill out. Most people who wear ANY type of uniform are eager to change pretty quickly, let alone a type of uniform that makes everyone around you uncomfortable and makes you a target.

The Navy seems pretty big about letting the sailors wear their uniforms when they go get trashed at port.

The army allows a drink at social events or with a meal while in dress uniform but nothing live I've seen the navy get away. Especially during fleet week.

It was recently alleged by whistleblowers that the NYPD has in place a policy of institutionalised racism and suspect abuse. The continually noted "mission creep" by the rapid acquisition of SWAT departments or just heavy weapons by small departments, and the number of rights-bending searches carried out under such, and the deaths that have resulted directly from.

Police officers now sometimes answer 911 calls for medical personnel. People have directly been killed as a result of this policy.
