I'm inclined to agree. Democracy is a sham. It lowers the sacred institution of government and the potential of any state to the level of the simpleton.
Exactly. Furthermore, it encourages short term populism as opposed to pursuit of long term goals. Unpopular decisions are avoided, even if they are preferable.
Also Asigna, I'm accused of fascism as well. But usually that is due to the climate of denialism which exists amongst the ranks of liberals and democrats. They simply refuse to see this ultimate defect of democracy; it essentially gives the government to people who have no sense of vision or decisiveness. Good governance cannot be denigrated to a series of popularity contests (ie: elections).

I think I have debated with you before, but let me say it again: A totalitarian state invites corruption. When you thrust anyone into absolute power, they will misuse it. And if they don't, then their heirs will. I mean, Octavian was a pretty decent fellow, and so was Tiberius, but Caligula, Claudius and Nero were the absolute scum of the earth. Well, maybe not Claudius, but Nero and Caligula were. You can't have a totally fair, long-lasting reign of benevolent totalitarian rulers.

Abolish our political parties and be ruled over by a group of unelected technocrats in cohoots with industry leaders? I would rather have unemployment.

Don't confuse totalitarianism and absolutism. It is possible to have a libertarian absolute monarchy, or even a totalitarian democracy in theory.
