Wiki sez; "The cession was ratified by a regional referendum over 25,000 electors out of a total of 30,700 in favor of the attachment to France. "

To be fair wiki also says "measures were instituted to secure such a popular vote as was desired" and " The French Consul wrote to his government, that, if a French man-of-war did not come to Villa Franca, his own life and that of his family would not be secure", and the Niceans seemed not to really like the incoming Frenchmen.

And to quote from wiki "Giuseppe Garibaldi, born in Nice, opposed the cession to France (arguing that the ballot was rigged by the French)"

Mind you, hating France for staging a referendum doesn't make sense since it was 150 years ago.

Link.

On the "measures were instituted to secure such a popular vote as was desired" part; that just seems to indicate that measures were taken to have a popular vote.

I can't find the consul's statement in the article, nor any statements on the Niceans' opinions of the French besides the vote. Link, please?

I don't take the statements of a probably-biased man to be indicative of vote rigging.

It isn't your clay, though. The people that live on it don't seem to think so, anyhow.

Not in the Nice article itself, but rather the one regarding the Treaty of Turin.

Completely public Healthcare. Where going to the doctor is as easy and costly as going to high school. Ditto for College.

Competition in the Electrical Industry, as in the ability to get the cheapest available to provide my electricity, rather than the state backed monopoly that just raises prices with no incentive to lower them.

Those are the current three I'd really like.

Liri being in college isn't education enough. :/
I suppose nothing short of being in university satisfies the NSG elitists (who are in high school, if even that).

It didn't work for Yugoslavia.

And why not just hand the area over to a newfound Ottoman Empire if we're going for ridiculous ways to bring peace to Western Asia?
