A republic? Well you see, I truely don't trust society at all, people voting collectively has very rarely yielded good results, look at America, they elected Bush then Obama, both horrible leaders, they just swayed the masses because masses are easily swayed, I don't like swaying and four jaded politicians will not be swayed easily.

You're sounding increasingly stalinistic by the minute, son.
Next you'll be telling me intellectualism is a bad thing.

You're sounding increasingly fascistic by the minute, son.
Next you'll be telling me intellectualism is a bad thing.

The flaws in republican democracy you've pointed out here are mostly legitimate, but you've incorrectly identified the root problem. You look at the flaws of democracy and say 'people are awful and need strong leaders to prevent them fucking up'. I look at the flaws in, say, the US (my own country) and her gov't and say 'if we had a more just society then leaders would be chosen from among the most skilled, and not from among the economic elites'. By this I mean to say: an extensive welfare state, social safety net, and abundant educational opportunities take politics from being a rich man's game to being truly democratic. That is why I am not only a supporter of Republican Democracy, but also a social-democratic economic system.

To each their own.
