Almost all history of man that is known has something to do with the white man. I don't think it's necessary to make a month for it when we already have 12 months that remind us about it. I'm not being racist, I just think it's a circle. You can't please everyone. It isn't practical nor is it possible.

At least to Hungaristans particular case though, it is a possibility some of his ancestors were enslaved at one point or another (if any of them were unlucky enough to be serving in the hungarian military durring the ottoman invasions), and those who enslaved blacks in the South were just one version of whites.
Automatically merging all white sinto the same category is stupid for many reasons, and there are plenty of examples of white vs white ethnic conflict (ie almost every single dam war in Europe that didnt have to do with religion)

In the Western hemisphere, the subject known as "World History" tends to focus almost entirely on European and North American history and culture and from a purely "Caucasian" perspective, so to speak, barely delving into African, Asian, Central and South American, or Oceanian history, if at all. "World History" pretty much is the year-long version of White History Month.

Though racism in America has generally lessened in intensity over time, you must realize that hundreds of years of slavery and discrimination are the direct cause of the current-day poverty of blacks.

White people are poor too. Besides, there are plenty of rich Black folks.

I did not say each white person sits on a solid gold toilet. I did not say that each black person is living in squalor and filth. I said that centuries of racial discrimination continue to leave black people at a disadvantage.

Heritage months don't really help at all. Americans completely ignore the other heritage months months besides February (like how nobody knows that May is Asian/Pacific Islander Month or that March is Irish-American Heritage Month), and Black History Month itself only gets a modicum of recognition.

We should either abolish the Heritage Month, or create numerous amounts of them so that each nationality can get its recognition, even if only a few will care in the end. (For instance, why not have a German-American Heritage Month, a Roma-American Heritage Month, or perhaps even a Hungarian Heritage Month?) Seriously, the last time I heard about Black History Month was in grade school, and that was only on MLK Jr. Day. MLK Day is actually in January.

The fact that European culture spread through largely underhanded means does nothing to refute my claim. I don't give a toss how sad or unfortunate it may be, it's still reality.

Not really, African cultures, Asian cultures, Native American cultures, etc. really left their mark comparable to Europe's mark, "Western Covilization" absorbs and to this day still greatly absorbs their influences and a lot of what you think as "European" are really products of other cultures.

I'll repeat the argument I was debunking:
While the fact is, US only became a key part of the Western Civilization around WWI, by which time Europeans were already as powerful as it gets in world politics. It was not required for Western Civilization's dominance.

I think Mushet meant that the raw materials that were exported back to Europe from the Americas helped to fuel Europe's development into the industrial and military powerhouse that it became in the 18th and 19th centuries. While it is an unfair oversimplification to say this was the only reason for Europe's success, it is true that the American colonies were useful.
