NSA Hacked Mexican President's Email

Postby Nervbraiain » Sun Oct 20, 2013 6:27 pm

The National Security Agency hacked the email of former Mexican President Felipe Calderon, according to a report from Der Spiegel.

The report, which stems from documents leaked by Edward Snowden, alleges that a division of the NSA "successfully exploited a key mail server in the Mexican Presidencia domain within the Mexican Presidential network to gain first-ever access to President Felipe Calderon's public email account." Der Speigel also reports that the spying, which began in May 2010, also targeted other top officials in the Mexican government.

Well I'm not truly surprised, happy that my suspicions were confirmed. I feel that I should be upset about it as I do live in the U.S.; however, I truly do wish that the activities of the NSA will come back to bite the U.S.A. in the butt.

So what's your opinion NSG?

This is clear evidence that the leaders of nations need to stop using insecure email providers.

Not surprising. The NSA is like the dumb kid that you hope will stop fucking up but you really know they never will.

It seems like they were spying on him while he was president as well as other top officials.

The fact that they did it doesn't really surprise or outrage me.

The fact that they got caught (again) makes me wonder who's in charge of our national security.
I AM DISAPPOINTED

Considering the head of the NSA is too busy techno-masturbating I doubt it.

Just like the damn fool president and his security staff that let it happen.

I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

on one hand, it's always pretty annoying when you hear about this kind of stuff since it's just flagrantly dishonest and conniving

but on the other hand, a lot of people seem to agree that espionage like this is par for the course in international politics

this ultimately leaves me paralyzed on this topic. are we just expected to shake our heads in disdain (but not do anything) or is there a constructive goal we can advance? like, should we work to eliminate this kind of spying or do we believe that it's acceptable but unethical?

eh.
is it pronounced zay-vee-uh or zuh-vay-uh? i can't decide
