Not much to that, really, except for IET. The war part sucks, though.

The thing about the Russian Army in the late 90's is that you, as a conscript do all the work, but the older guys who have been there longer and are almost done or are career soldiers get your pay for it too. Instead of training in groups like we should have been, we learned nothing about teamwork[but some of us could fix your uniform if it ripped], so naturally when we arrived in Grozny and were placed in units that actually trained or had fought in the 1st war they were irritated that we just didn't cooperate very well.

I must admit, the camps I've been on did sometimes inlcude some naked guys breaking glowy sticks over themselves, but there is no experience like it. Tell me, wher else in ordinary life do you get to use semi-automatic weaponary (L98-A2) and automatic rifles (LSW) it is so much fun. Yes, the NCO's are a bit of a problem, but, when you get promoted, they don't tend to be as bad, and you can be a complete bastard to all the lower ranks!!

I am in Scotland, so follow the British Army Rank system, and yes Lance Corporal is the equivalent to Privat 1st Class in the US army. Infact, it is technically 'Cadet Lance Corporal', as we aren't actually REAL soldiers. I'm not entirely sure if our RSM ( Regimental Sergeant Major ) has grasped that one yet, but oh well, he's only there for a year, then one of the present 5th Years (Second last year in senior school) gets it. The current 5th year are really not up to much, so I have no Idea who's gonna get the appointment from our Lt Col.

I was in ROTC during my second year of university, but I did it for the easy "A" because I'd already spent 4 years on active duty at that point, one of which was in Iraq.

However, ROTC did answer a lot of my questions about the military like "Where the hell do these stupid-ass lieutenants come from?" and "Why do these lieutenants think they're anybody?"

You have a CCF at a school without a sixth form?

You're not in one of those state school CCfs are you?

The only person I know who I know is doing this is the girl at my school.
She always looks suicidal and has very little empathy for anything.
The only time she looks excited is when she talks about the cadets, she knows everything about it. ;)

No no no, the sixth year make up our SNCO's (Sgt, S/Sgt, CSM, TSM, RQMS and RSM). No I am in a private school, I know a bit hippocritical for a commie, but what the hell. The fifth year in question, is the one that will make un next years SNCO's. I do fear for my safety.

The British version of child soldiers. They give you jam tarts instead of heroin.

Jam tarts? Where? What rat packs are you getting? The best we get are biscuits brown, but apparently the army is taking them out of the ration packs. NOOO!!

Everything this great country has was taken, won, preserved or cherished was provided by the rifle and the will to use it.

As for what stage comes next it's usually the "I've got several 5.56mm holes in me" stage. - Wallonochia

Don't mention paintball, please. My friend tried to use the army's basic section attack drills with his team, who had never used these tactics, needless to say it went very badly, and he ended up in rather allot of pain
