George Washington was a pretty mediocre commander compared to everyone else on that list.

Didn't he want to ...how to phrase the term...carpet atom bomb China?

He wanted to hammer North Korea and China badly, even using atomic weapons of necessary. That was when he was removed from command.

Imperial Japan's Isoroku Yamamoto was a great naval tactician too. I wonder how WW2 would turn out in the Pacific if the US never managed to shoot him down one day.

As much as I admire Gustav, his finance skills were, to say the least, not optimal. ;)

Probably a good time to mention Frederick II if we're bringing up enlightened, warrior-monarchs.

By the standards of the day, Genghis was pretty enlightened, or at least tolerant.

We should be a little bit careful with that.

It's not untrue, but one has to to factor in the practicalities of ruling a vast and diverse empire. He may have simply been being shrewd. It's also true that he was capable of being extraordinary ruthless. A point which often gets glossed-over by discussion of his sparing this or that monastery.

Tolerant of people who didn't fight, at least. Considering the standards of the era, that's not all that shabby. You got some nice trade networks, protection, freedom to preserve your own culture and governance, etc. Not too shabby.
