I would think that at least some knowledge of the English language would be a pre-req. for posting on NSG...especially considering how shitty google translate is when it comes to grammar.

My children will walk at 1 month age or before (yes, it is possible, but only if we put them to train a lot in their first month of life, they do this in one or two tribes in West Africa and it is a human thing) and learn at least one sign language many months before they learn oral ones (it is not even very hard... they teached sign languages to 'lower' apes once) for awesomeness. I wish I had Brazilian Sign Language as native to me. :/

It can kinda fuck up your children's communication abilities.

Trust me, my parents tried to teach me two languages at the same time.

I plan to have. Someday.

But before my 30th birthday, what is currently less than 12 years in the future. By comparison, a medication that efficiently tackles obesity, the biggest threat to my long-term health, is probable to appear in about 5 years from now.

But you haven't heard me speaking yet, I'll probably have to start seeing a phonoaudiologist to correct my speech.

If done properly, a child can learn 2 languages at the same time without any problem or confusion. I grew up learning both Asturian and Spanish at the same time and had no adverse reactions.

Do you master both of them? My father tried to teach me Portuguese and tried to make me speak Portuguese at home, while at the same, I lived in an Anglophone community and spoke English with my mother.

When they got divorced I lost all the contact with Portuguese, untill I moved with my father and I still can't say I really master it.

Except for the fact that you speak Asturian and Spanish :p

What I heard from a friend of mine, it is one parent one language. His son speaks Croatian and Spanish. Croatian with his mom, Spanish with his father. It works apparently.
