There is no Afrikaner language or etnicity, they are all Dutch diaspora and speaking a dutch dialect.

How many different dialects and languages are concentrated under the umbrella term of Hindi?
Many. Some of them can be hardly comprehensible. Most people don't speak standard Hindi, but rather their regional dialect. There is a standard register called Shuddh (pure) Hindi, which is based heavily off Sanskrit and with as little Persian, Arabic, English, Portuguese, etc. as possible, but nobody uses it as a native language. The government writes its messages like this.
Nowadays most Hindi-speakers use Hinglish to communicate, and mass communications has somewhat standardised the language better than the government ever did.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
I was reading not that long ago about the Holy Tooth of Buddha in Sri Lanka and one thing that was discussed was this extensive umbrella term the Brits created regarding all things Hindu. It's a ton of stuff. So so much.
I think I remember you telling me about the prevalence of Hinglish in modern Indian music.

It's absolutely everywhere. So is Punjablish, Tamlish, etc. English vocabulary is very popular nowadays, and we take a lot of loan words.
