Well, that's not really true. There are passive atheists, and aggressive atheists, and the weird bunch of atheists (people who are atheists because they think it's "cool").

Of course, none of those really fit in the categories, and a lot of atheists borrow traits from the different groups.

Still not "kinds" of atheism. Just different atheists with different personalities.

Do those actually exist? Ive never met nor heard of anyone who that would apply to... I dont even know how that happens... aside from the internet, I cant think of a place where open anti-theism is popular...

Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. We would be concerned with their materiality. We would be interested in their beginnings and their ends, before and after they left our grasp.

As I said, all the options are atheist labels but with very different attitudes.

There are no "kinds" of atheism.

Maybe gnostic and agnostic.

Anyway...I get a little weirded out when we start trying to divide atheism into factions. Seems counter-intuitive.

Yeah, there are.

There's agnostic atheism, gnostic atheism, implicit atheism, explicit atheism, religious or supernatural atheism, materialist atheism, and so on and so forth.

I suppose Dawkins type. I think God is as plausible as invisible pink unicorns and while I acknowledge the shortcomings of certainty and the limits of human perception, I live my life as if the things I generally perceive as real and unreal are.

Gnostic atheists do believe.

They believe there is no god. Agnostic atheists simply don't believe there is one. The two qualify as separate forms of atheism, in that one is a belief and the other is a lack of belief.

Happens with every faith. Christians have a million sects, Muslims have a million sects - why not people who are obsessed with atheism?
To be fair, though, most people who consider themselves atheists think these 'factions' are all bull.

...cant tell if sarcasm or serious...

Presuming you are serious, yes you can be both without any conflict.
An atheist describes someone who does not believe in a deity.
An antitheist is someone who does not like religion/thinks it is a bad thing.

If anything, they are generally fairly compatible. Few theists for instance would be anti-theists because why would they follow something they consider terrible?
