It's not that hard to understand, people feel like they belong in the community and culture they are raised in. When a bunch of immigrants come in and society changes fast people start to fear for their future, the future of their culture, and the things they love about it.

Multiculturalism is fine as long as immigrants learn the local language, which facilitates exchanges. Aside from that, as long as they're not doing anything illegal, everything should work out.

Anyway, yes, multiculturalism is great. In fact, there are many traditions that needed to go away. Slavery, discrimination of blacks, racism, discrimination and persecution of LGBTA, and a whole lot more. I like multiculturalism, and I like not always having to eat only-Dutch foods. And also, this "OMG MULTICULTURALIZM" circlejerk is getting me really tired, and those who do participate in that circlejerk are actually those who make the immigrants more radical.

It's taking them a while to get with the program.

There are second and third generation Mexican immigrants who literally still view themselves as Mexican first, American second, yet they've never been to Mexico and can't speak Spanish.

And I have a friend who's literally generations removed from the soil of Scotland, and yet he still goes to caber-tossing events while wearing a kilt. That sort of thing can be annoying, but it's largely irrelevant, and the people are outliers.
