Look up those cities on the map, set the map to the racial/ethnic groups map and look at the color coded ethnic enclaves, I live in a miles long group of continuous barrios that go from South Glendale to North Irvine, LA is segregated.

Which is only natural. People tend to self-segregate themselves.

It can be, but I've been noticing recently that immigrants simply move into neighborhoods filled with people of the same origin and then never interact with others. This does nothing but segregate people and create tension and conflict. I regularly go with my parents to Russian shops in Toronto and they keep going on about how great the motherland was while they can't speak two words of English. Multiculturalism doesn't work when cultures refuse to interact with each other. I honestly prefer America's melting pot since people can of course practice their own culture and share their food but at the same time say they're American and combine the American way of life with their own.

That tends to drop off after a generation or so. When I lived in Glendale, the older Armenians who had just moved here would speak mostly Armenian and keep to their own shops and restaurants, their kids would tend to hang out with each other, but speak English, listen to American music, and take interest in American tv shows and movies, and the third generation didn't really see the point in excluding themselves. Same with those who came over the Southern borders, though the racial and ethnic issues are laden with a bit more baggage around here.

Multiculturalism hasn't affected me. I like European art, Latin music, Asian food, Native spirituality and African crafts. The people I hang out with are friendly and diverse, so no problems here. I live near LA anyway, about 40 miles east.

The Americas are the epitome of multi-culturalism, especially California. I can only imagine Mr. Dutch here living in a continent that has not had a substantial influx of foreigners since the Moors came from Spain and the Ottomans ravaged through the Balkans.
