Alcohol is a poison and, in my opinion, a waste of time. There are better drugs and better drugs for you. Still, prohibition leads to organized crime and a lack of safety standards for the prohibited good in question. So, no it shouldn't be illegal. It is both impractical and foolish to tell reasonable adults what they can and can't consume.

At the very least I would endorse widespread social condemnation of alcohol.

Recast its image from this ''cool'' drink that grown-ups and sociable people drink all the time to what it is... a bitter poison that tastes like medicine, has potential for addiction, causes health problems, acts as a depressant, and can cause drunkness, drunk driver accidents, loss of self-control etc...

It has to start there. Once everyone buys that, then we can talk about banning it or taxing the hell out of it even more.

Right now, too many people out there who like drinking that dangerous stuff and think it's somehow cool...

Just because you think it tastes like medicine and want to spread that magic message, doesn't mean everyone will buy into that shit or think it tastes like medicine. I, for one, like some alcoholic drinks, and I don't feel it tastes like medicine, either.

If anything, educate people on the risks, but by no means prohibit it. Because, the moment we start prohibiting it, we will get back to the '20s US all the way down so far that even Al Capone would rise from the dead just to resume his former activities once more.

Honest education instead of fear-mongering and demonisation would be nice.
