Nope, see my previous comment education (which obviously wine tasters need none of) is superior to prohibition due to the impossible nature of said prohibition, I just got a sour taste in my mouth when I saw someone criticise 'because it's bad' as though there was nothing bad about alcohol in the slightest.

3: Not everyone who drinks becomes addicted to it.
4: That is a problem with combining alcohol consumption and driving, not with alcohol consumption itself.

It has been shown before in the United States in the early 1900's that prohibition doesn't work. It just creates another black market which fuels crime throughout the nation. On the other hand alcohol causes around 75,000 deaths a year in the US alone......

Well if you're inexperienced, make the decision to drive or use drinking to drown your sorrows, then of course there's risks involved. I for one have learned about the risks and try to take it easy on my liver, brain and stomach

And we can get into a deep philosophical session about why society would be better off without alcohol. A hypothetical example is a world without poverty, great social conditions, and all that. And it happens to have another drug smoked commonly such as weed, being the norm and legal drug enjoyed by society, while alcohol is the illegal one hated by all. Perhaps in such an alternate reality world, maybe then it's possible a world would be better off without alcohol.

But ideally for this world, it would be better to fix the social conditions leading people to drink alcohol. That would be progress.
