AVFM wasn't banned because it's anti-feminist, it was banned because they encourage gathering information on women they don't like and posting it online while not-so-subtly encouraging others to take this information and harass these women. There are other websites which have been declared part of the same network of hate groups and those have not been banned.

Yeah really. I complained a while back about the status as a hate group and was greeted with reluctance to ban the website. It wasn't until Indy (iirc) pointed out that they are associated with the website Register Her.

Even though the website has been recognized by the SLPC as supporting hate speech against women (not just "feminists suck" or somesuch), that wasn't enough to get it banned. There are other websites in this network which also support fairly vile misogyny and endorsements of violence against women which you can freely post on here.

They do there job just not too well

But here's the thing: several posters have long suggested ways to make the job easier and the results better.
Every suggestion has been denied for various reasons.

The system doesn't work, so why does no one try to fix it?

Because most of the moderation crew isn't interested in making it work; they just want the opportunity to continue to throw their weight around and receive the praise of their little cults of sycophants.

Most of them have no desire or intent to serve the community anymore, if ever they did--they're just in it for the power trip.

At some point when rules become complex enough, rulings via precedent are called for.

How would these precedents be saved?

Would they be public information or mod-access only?

If they were public information would ignorance of precedence count towards innocence?

The only way to keep up with precedents is to follow moderation, which if more people did, we wouldn't have as many of these threads.

I just read this thread and I think NSG never made me so mentally confused.

Regardless, I have to keep a keen on it, because I stopped reading the NSG Culture on the 15th page and when it turned out to be the thread of the year it was too late.

If there is a valid critique, why should it have to wait?

It will spare almost every single one of us from having to hear about Zeon, about how mods are so evul, biased, corrupt, for a while. It will clear our minds, and most "valid critiques" after all, tend to be short-sighted, which means it may be relevant NOW, it will likely not be relevant four to six months down the road. If we had it whenever we want to, then either the mods will be overflowed, or it'd get to such a point the mods will declare a moratorium on those threads.

To make moderation more efficient, or feedback from us more efficient? Because I agree on both. I'm not saying our current approach to either is the best it can be. Nothing is. But if we don't all participate in these discussions, we'll never get anywhere.
