It is a slur. Gay people calling other other "fags" doesn't make it any less of a slur, just as how even if black people may call each other "niggas" it doesn't change that it can be considered a slur. It's not difficult to say you like Japanese anime instead of saying "Jap" anime. It's five letters more.

Well, depends on where you are, really. Might be just me, but I've noted it used in Europe without pejorative intent, same way I hear "Negro" used without pejorative intent in some areas.

I tend to refrain from using those slang terms and others because bothering to explain the intent is too much trouble.

And in some areas, like Greece, it may just be flat out ignorance due to a lack of Japanese there.

Anyone that claims NSG, of all places, is over-moderated either has an issue with the mods because they've been smacked by them before (indeed, that seems to be the case for almost everybody here who advocates less moderation) or they just want to see the forum turn into a chaotic pit of shit, in which case they have nothing to contribute to a discussion among members who give a damn.
