Here are some nice seasonal products that are cheerful but say "holiday" instead of "Christmas":

It should be PC, and maybe in context it is, but let everybody have the holiday they want and not worry about who gets offended.

Kind of a shotgun approach to a point, I admit.

Sort of a cluster of points.

One for starters. About a dozen more stories like this cropped up around this time last year. Normally I'd say the companies had other reasons, but there were at least 3 different companies involved in similar incidents. Every time, an employee would be fired on the grounds of wanting to use 'Merry Christmas' or something less secular than 'Happy Holidays'. Obviously, the companies deny these allegations if nothing else for PR reasons, or even that it's simply not true. Personally I'm not Christian (or rich) enough to lose my paycheck over it, but I don't personally see the harm in allowing your employees to say Merry Christmas. I'm more mad at America's obsession with not wanting to offend anybody ever than anything else.

There is no war on Christmas just because a bunch of ignorant people say there is.

I'll still wish people a happy solstice or new year.

Especially if they insist that someone is trying to take the right to say Merry Christmas away from them. For some reason, these people don't like being wished a happy solstice.

Often because it has nothing to do with their religion or because they feel Christmas is little more than an event used by corporations to make profit. Where the hell did all these adverts come from?

In that incident the employers claimed that they're a Christian company that celebrate Christmas. Doesn't strike me as them trying to be politically correct.

Why can't we just change the "politically correct" commercial Christmas to the 24th or something and rename it Present day? Christians get christmas, non-christians get a big fat man who gives them presents. Everyone wins!

And yet again I find myself writing as if I were an option in an issue.

I'd prefer just using one of the old names for this winterfest. Yule and Saturnalia for instance sound much cooler than "Christs Mass".

Yeah. Apparently it's alright for them to wish their celebrations on other people, but other people can't return the favour.

I'm an astronomer, the closest thing to an important event for me is the solstice. Plus I live in the northern hemisphere so anything that promises more light in the winter eventually is a cause for celebration.

Waaaay to much effort getting everyone used to having christmas on a new day and calling it a new name. Same reason we don't change the positive and negative ends of batteries.
