Thailand and Brasil come to mind, as, to someone not very educated about transsexuals and transgender, would say something along the lines of "all the trannies come from Bangkok and Rio"Hetalian Indie Rio de Janeiro wrote:We have same-sex marriage in Argentina, Brazi, Uruguay and 3 Mexican states, and the same rights of marriage in Colombia. It doesn't make a lick of a sense that the country to elect staunchly anti-equality Tony Abbott in plenary 2013 got it first.Auremena wrote:Or at least Brasil. And Thailand.
Actually I even doubt people really get the concept of transgender very well here. We often see signs for organizations such as LGTTTB when travestis and transsexuals are both transgender. LGBT* would make a lot more sense. If we mention "gênero queer" or "gênero não-binário" even most among the most knowledgeable among the engaged minority of LGBT people here will probably go "HUH?!". This is something I'd expect solely from sociologists and anthropologists, if much. xD
And that's quite an unfortunate view to have.
