I know I do so extrapolating from my sample size of one, 100% of people have them.

And I know I don't. Excluding your result, and extrapolating from my own sample size of one, 0% of people have them.

You realize I never said that it was, right?

That is true. I went back and read your post again and I was surprised to find that you hadn't actually remarked on the silver medal for Sibirsky campaign either.

Grenartia wrote:
Wytenigistan wrote:Hmm I wonder if these are the same people who rail against bullying in the anti-bully threads...would be funny.

It's not bullying to attack the argument, and the methods used to make it.

And yes, there is very much a difference between attacking the argument and attacking the person making it.

Well, maybe, sometimes. When Sibirsky makes a post that explains what he thinks and why he thinks it and these are repeatedly met with "silver medal debating" style answers, over a prolonged period of time it kind of becomes pretty bloody clear that even when Sibirsky's posts aren't like this, the intent is not nice. This is, largely, moderation's entirely correct view.

There are certain kinds of threads where how the argument is made becomes the entire topic. This is not desirable.

There is a difference between attacking the argument and attacking the poster, usually. Sometimes things get a bit confused and then it's an ad hominem. However, stuff like, "Such cowardice," or "You suck at this" are very much going for the poster, not the argument, or remarking in the poster at any rate.

Grenartia wrote:
Wytenigistan wrote:It is if you're griefing them and not actually attacking the argument at all.

Its not griefing to criticize how somebody debates. Pointing out that merely using the " :palm: " with NO accompanying counter arguments and facts IS. A. VALID. CRITICISM.

Up until it's not. And this has not been the case for some weeks, ever since it was brought to the attention of the mods. Really, how it is done is what matters more.

The Sibirsky School, however, does have its place from time to time.

Neo Art wrote:And then, they allowed him back.

I wasn't going to reply to this post but this is simply not true. What happened was some players figured out that he was back and did not report it, preferring to wait until it was time to deploy the return as proof of negligent/malicious/evil moderation. It did get reported though, in the end, when it was brought to the attention of more responsible posters, whose first reaction was to report.

The time-span here is questionable. It may have been the case that this happened in a very short time frame or it could have happened over days or more. For a forum that is largely reliant on reporting, it's still not a ringing endorsement of practices among the player base here.

Well, not exactly. Even if one hosts the contests, they can still do other things on the forum (debate, chat in TET, participate in RPs, etc.). Having to confirm all kinds of TGs actively prevents doing those things.

As somebody who has had to view and respond to multiple TGs whilst helping conduct an RP, and posting in TET, and debate in NSG, I can rather safely say that it can be quite the bitch, especially when one's system is rather slow.

Well no! If your talking about the very first teacher, then no! It was most likely a parent who decided that there should be a place where kids go to learn stuff. Learn stuff like how to read and plant stuff and count. Cuz back in the 1600's, that's all you needed to know. Now the rich peoples kids needed to learn more stuff then the poor kids. The 1600's was the time when you needed to know how to read so you could read the bible, and count how many people died on the ship heading to the new world (aka, North America) and how many times that idiot named bill fell over board!!! And you needed to count how many kids you had, if you had 5 kids and there not twins and serpent ages, you could count how many times that the mother and father had sex!
