I suppose the Federation of New England could be perceived as better.

Ew.... Say that around my priest and his eyes'd bug out. The NIV is nearly universally despised among the Eastern Orthodox. Then again... that's because we tend to have our own bias' for what Jesus was supposed to have said.

Like Blas said.... its a Christian State.
No, a CATHOLIC state. There is nothing in the Vatican to adhere or appeal to the other denominations, it is purely Catholic and nothing more or less. You can't call it a Christian state, it only appeals to ONE denomination, a Christian state would mean it applies to ALL denominations.

No. It's a sovereign Catholic city-state. There should be a city-state for each denomination, like Wittenberg for the Protestants, and a section of occupied Constantinople for the Orthodox, and of course it should house a un-perverted Hagia Sophia within it's borders.
You mean Istanbul and the Hagia Sophia is not 'perverted'.

My take on it was that jesus was a guy mostly against the rich. Funny that Republicans and their rich buddies are so for the Bible, but in practice, don't follow it. Isn't there something about a camel through the eye of a needle? This country's god is Mammon and their religion Capitalism.

Even when I was a Baptist I still was warmly welcomed into Vatican city....

Federation of New England?
The would be government of New England had the British convinced them to secede during the war of 1812. The states had a very good reason to, its economy was being torn to shreds by the practices of the US ( although Britain and France played just as large a role).

It's Constantinople, and Hagia Sophia has been perverted. It's natural colors have faded, many of it's original mosaics still remain covered and might not be able to be restored, and the minarets aren't in use as it's no longer a mosque.

How's that? We call Middle Eastern countries Islamic even though they might pander to only Sunni or Shiite.

I was just thinking it would save a lot of lives if we had a nation sort of like Israel, where any Christian could fly in if they were being persecuted. Of course, I understand the horror of the Holocaust and the impact it had on Jewish communities, so I'm not trying to compare the two. Still, do you think it is a good idea or a bad idea? Why?

I wasn't asking a philosophical question. I was asking why a Christian state is a good idea. I consider it a bad one, for the record, because fundamentalists do not have the best track record with regards to human rights.

Reality disagrees with you.
