Actually, this fits in well with the 1950s thread we have going. At least back in those days, insults were highly effective. Nowadays, people have the word "fuck" for every other word because they're not allowed to make use, targeted, efficient insults anymore.

If you have a problem that can only be solved with insults (wich in itself, is fucking ridiculous), and you choose to insult someone based upon the color of that person's skin or culture, then you're a racist. It's not rocket science.

I think it is a stupid word that is mostly used by black people themselves and racist white southerners. The only way to kill the word is for some people to stop being racist and for rappers to stop using it to describe their "people." (I'm trying so hard not to sound racist right now.) I have noticed that it has split up into two different words, one ending with "ah" or "a" and the other ending with "er." The first word seems to be more benign, but still considered racist if a white person says it. Now you know my opinion, what do you think?

Have you heard how rappers tend to talk about women? How often they use the word "bitch"? You aren't going to get anywhere with appeals for them to not be offensive.

Because of certain pop cultures, the N word has split into 2 different spellings, which eventually got two separate meanings. There's the -er one which is, of course, racist. Then there's the -a one where it's got a definition like "buddy" or "tough guy", in fact the -a one has evolved multiple definitions of it's own, both positive and negative.
