No, they're standing up for tyranny of the minority. In the end, that's all it comes down to; they are using what little power they have left to try to stand in the way of any Democratic legislation even though it benefits absolutely nobody to do so, and hurts hundreds of thousands of voters by threatening to take away their paychecks.

And that last part will haunt them in 2014, just like it did in 2012.

This happened every few months, the republicans will get it through the house, Democrats will block it in the senate and if they don't president will veto it and there's no possible way they can get the 2/3 vote to override the veto. Plus they will more then likely make a last minute deal like always.

Gingrich was initially as partisan as Boehner. But then the government shutdown of 95 and 96 happened, and it moved Gingrich in a much more bipartisan direction. For the rest of his speakership, he worked with Clinton, was willing to compromise, and honestly, government actually worked! Bills passed Congress with large, bipartisan support. Clinton touts that he developed a very productive relationship with Gingrich.

I personally hope that if the government does shutdown, it does the same to Boehner as it did to Gingrich. If Republicans are simply willing to quit opposing everything Obama says because he's black/a democrat/whatever and actually sit down with him and the senate/house democrats and actually work together, not just pretend to work together, we will have a functioning government.

The problem is Boehner isn't in control and the Repubs won't stop what they are doing until they replace this batch of morons.

At this point, the only play left for the GOP is to vote so the Senate is 99-1 against the defund bill. That's their only prayer of salvaging their credibility.

Hopefully that's sarcasm, the GOP congress is getting nothing wrong. All they want is ObamaCare gone, they keep trying and at this point they should give up. It's a useless effort to repeal something that isn't even all that "liberal"

Even if that was remotely grounded in reality (and it's not), the fact is, they can't repeal this. Period. They don't have the numbers.

Boehner is a traitor really to the Republican party. The idea that "He isn't in control" is a correct one, because he isn't. Boehner doesn't speak the Republicans language, except for a few of the Rhinos who have abandoned their constituints. As much as I hate Democrats... I also hate a number of Republicans.
Traitor Lindsey Graham, Chris Christie, John McCain.
Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mick Mulvaney, and Tim Scott seem to be the most obvious friends to the Tea Party and seem to stick with their constituints. I would also Jim DeMint, but hes president of the Heritage Foundation now.
