And second, presuming his career was the only reason he didn't bring the clean CR to the floor, Boehner being kicked to the curb means the last 16 days were all for nothing.

Actually, there is no way the last 16 days weren't all for nothing.
If a deal goes through today, I hope after Obama signs it he makes it clear that there's no cause for celebration, and states what the American people think, that this whole thing was a travesty and a disgrace.

This is no travesty, this is what democracy looks like.

You know by treaty if you drag him back to Canada he gets to be a senator in Canada.

He's our problem. Shouldn't be yours. Besides, I could see the Governor General challenging him to honourable combat, unto death. Seems like the kind've guy that would play things that way.

This whole thing is a coup to cause the financial collapse of America so that Cruz can sieze power for himself, the truth is out!

Personally i welcome our new leader, The Great Fiscally Irresponsable Leader, Emperor Ted Cruz!

You think Harper would let Cruz muscle in on his turf? Fat chance of that.

Also, my blood is boiling every time I hear a Republican saying excessive government spending/debt caused this crisis. No. Debt hysteria caused this crisis. A manufactured panic about the debt caused this crisis. The debt itself did not.

Assuming the debt ceiling isn't raised, I think the Treasury has said that like, the 22nd at the latest would be when they have to start making decisions about what isn't going to be paid that day.

I think the President should demand a personal apology, on TV during primetime, from Dear Speaker Boehner and each of the Tea Party members of the House GOP, as part of the deal. It's the least they could do.

That'll be the nail in the coffin for the GOP.

He should do it before the bill is in the House/being voted on.

That'll put even more pressure to pass it.

I say given the senate bill, we are back down to a 35% chance of default.

There's still hope that we won't have another depression because the House Republicans are acting like political terrorists (I honestly don't know what to call someone who is threatening the financial destruction of the country unless they get what they want other than terrorists). So long as the Tea Party wankers who're infesting the House like lice agree to the Senate agreement.

Don't know. If we can get Cantor to get it on to the floor and get enough moderate Republicans to vote for it, it might pass. Although, the House is going to have to rely oh so very much on the Democrats passing it.

As someone who is not a US citizen, I do not profess to give an opinion on the merits, or otherwise of Obamacare.
I do, however, know that when a President is elected, with this as an election manifesto, has it passed into law, successfully defeats a Supreme Court challenge, and then is re-elected, the intransigence of the Tea Party, is breathtaking in its arrogance and stupidity. Politics is the art of the possible. You may not like something but to put government employees out of a job, and then bring the dollar into disrepute as the world reserve currency, reeks of fanaticism. If you cannot ultimately win, why not abstain to show your opposition?

I place it at 50-50 chance. If it clears the House of Representatives then it's zero, but until Boehner brings it to the floor after clearing the Senate. The Tea Party is strongest in the House and might be able to prevent Boehner from voting on it or oust Boehner from his post.
