I know you did not have to mandate the purchase of insurance.

As opposed to having people sit there without it, get sick/injured and force everyone else to pay for their stupidity?

Young healthy people are unlikely to face that situation.
And since the law targets upper middle class young healthy people they can pay for the bills out of pocket if need be.

Yep.

Fuck everyone involved. Fuck all of the corrupt, self-centered politicians that have totally forgotten about what they signed up to do.

But fuck the Republicans in particular.

I have no problem with my Tax dollars providing a universal system, or even providing expanded medicaid or medicare. I have objection to the private purchase of insurance.

It wasn't intended as an attack against you, more at the ridiculous assertion from various conservative groups in the States that universal healthcare somehow leads to some form of Cold-war style Communist Dictatorship..

No one doubts their generic hate of the ACA is why they are doing this.

which is not the mandate.

and im not sure that they wouldn't have shut the government down even if the dems had lost their minds and defunded obamacare. after all they have left most of their objections behind and went back to their stupid economic demands.

Give him his proper title: de facto Speaker of the House Ted Cruz (R-Calgary).

Motherfucker. I knew he was Canadian. I didn't know he was Calgarian.

Gimme a few minutes guys. I've dispatched a team to bring him back here, before he causes any more damage. Hopefully they'll catch up with him before he tries a filibuster.

That he too is very concerned about the healthcare law and that if concessions are not granted to make it a better law he will seriously consider another talking filibuster.

As left-wing as I am and seething with rage over this bullshit, I've come to the strange conclusion that I want Boehner to stay Speaker of the House. One, because if he is overthrown, there is an absolute guarantee he will be replaced with someone more extreme. Which means a Speaker who actively supports the tea party rather than just cowering to them. And second, presuming his career was the only reason he didn't bring the clean CR to the floor, Boehner being kicked to the curb means the last 16 days were all for nothing.

Actually, there is no way the last 16 days weren't all for nothing.
If a deal goes through today, I hope after Obama signs it he makes it clear that there's no cause for celebration, and states what the American people think, that this whole thing was a travesty and a disgrace.
