I don't think Australia really has anything unique but really what has been brought in like bangers and mash and fish and chips and others. I could classify damper as a peasent food.

I have a little saying; There are only three things worth living for good food, good drink and good women/men.

The bad thing is that you have to do a lot of crap to be able to enjoy and indulge within these things.

I honestly don't know as I'm far more into nihonshu than beer, but I'll keep my eye out the next time I'm in the store. Given that we're snugged up next to Niigata, I wouldn't be surprised.

For the curious, that's warabimochi, a gelatinous confection made from brackens, eaten as a chilled summer treat. It's often sold by vendors driving about in little trucks, sort of like the ice cream man back home.

(Dang, where's my local warabimochi man when I want him.)

Well, I'm Australian, so I'm seriously not sure what we have in terms of unique foods besides random berries and shit that you find rotting on the ground. :/
We have damper, Anzac Biscuits (high energy hard biscuits, basically, they're what the Australian and New Zealand(ian?) soldiers ate in WWII because they were so packed with fats, sugars, energy, etc.), which are packed with butter which makes them taste really good, and pavlova (which I'm pretty sure is meringue + fruit).
Everything else is pretty much either pub food, Asian, or McDonalds.
And salads. Shitloads of salads.

Also, my parents are Chinese, and most of the conventional Chinese stuff is pretty tasty. :D

We had a Japanese visitor to the library where I work. She brought some warabimochi in, it was kind of strange to me very different from anything I have had before.
