No it's not.

I've tried working on a friends PC that has Windows 8 but no touchscreen. It's been months and he hates it. Point is, in my experience, it's bad.

Been using it since alpha on both touchscreen and non-touchscreen devices. Works perfectly on both. If you don't like it, boot to desktop.

When I have time later this week, I will try out Splashtop on my tablet. It would be sick to Olay PC games from anywhere in the house.

Completely missed this other ad.

Both are actually quite good. A huge improvement over the previous "artsy" dancing ads. Letting people know why they should get a Surface is a far better method.

Actually, I just discovered a whole playlist of more recent ads.

But what the hell happened near the end of 2012? Both WP and Surface ads suddenly improved in quality to a degree that it makes it seem like they're from different companies. Did they fire their whole marketing team?

I agree, it's a shocking change. They either fired all of them, or they just decided to be smart.

And they did this with ~$250 million. I can't wait to see what they'll do with the new $400 million budget.

I can't wait to see more of iOS vs. Android commercials. The wedding and musical ads were absolutely great.

Those seem to attract an absurd amount of attention. Just release 10 of those and we'll be good.

They probably did, in all seriousness. A fresh start for a new face (Metro UI).

Have any of you guys ever used Alpine Linux?

I'm trying it now and am absolutely in love with it. It's basically a grsec/PaX patched Linux (with an SSP patched GCC) with uClibc and Busybox for the userland.

I'm mainly playing with virtualization (VServer right now, going to mess around with Xen next), it would make a great hypervisor because it's so small and is hardened out of the box.
